Dennis Dodd has Nebraska 16th going into 2009

The only poll that means anything is the BCS.
yea, but the BCS rankings are influenced by the others when the BCS rankings start.
It's calculated by averaging the percent totals of the Harris Interactive, USA Today Coaches and Computer polls
Yes, so doesn't that mean it is an advantage to be ranked highly in the Coaches' poll b4 the BCS polls start?

I think the coaches had a big influence on where Utah finished, moreso than the computers. But I don't have the 'inside dish'.

As long as Notre Dame doesn't leap frog us like I saw in another pre-season ranking, then I'm fine.

I've always respected Dennis! :)

14. Kansas: Any team with quarterback Todd Reesing is capable of anything. That includes winning the Big 12 North, which the Jayhawks should be favored to do in '09. Even with the linebacking unit having to be replaced, KU could be better defensively. Issue: A better running game would be nice to keep Reesing from getting beaten to a pulp.

16. Nebraska: Slowly, surely the Huskers are getting their swagger back. The difference in the Big 12 North is the Kansas game being in Lawrence. Issues: Spelling lessons when writing about receiver Curenski Gilleylen and nose tackle Ndamukong Suh.

He's a smart man. :)

if the 'skers take care of the ball, they can win the game. reesing can be reeled in, as hard as that is to do. the blackshirts have returned and they're chomping at the bit to get back to the title game.

Kansas State has a better chance of finishing in the top 25 than KU.

If you want predictions - I'll give you one - the next time KU beats NU:

1. Mangeno will have lost 350 pounds from being on "The Biggest Loser" 5 straight seasons

2. K-State and KU will have merged football programs to try and compete in the Big 12 - and they still cannot

3. political correctness has reached an all-time high which forces Nebraska to play their blind QB for 2 quarters (a new big 12 regulation) throwing 35 interceptions. KU pulls out a squeeker 3-0.
