it's just, nothing against meno holt, but i always think of Brook when i see that number. i think that it should have a special place in nebraska history forever, be it the thing i mentioned or having it retired permanently.

They are not permenantly retired, only 2 are Novak and Brown. The reason is that on a team of over 100 players, they can't afford to as you would have way too many players wearing the same numbers. So instead they honor those players by "retiring" the jersey and putting them up as such, but make the numbers still available.And speaking of retired jerseys, here's the list.
