International Man of Mystery
I just checked Facebook and caught this blurb from Sean Callahan:

I hope Carl P is right, and that Allen is ready to make a big impact this year. A superstar on the end, combined with a superstar in the middle, should make this a formidable D Line this year, and cover up any blemishes in the defensive secondary. If those blemishes are fixed in the secondary, this defense as a whole could be poised to make a gargantuan leap this year.
That got me thinking, what else are people saying about Allen? I found this on Tim Griffin's ESPN Blog:Carl Pelini on Pierre Allen's: "He suddenly went from being a reliable player to being a guy who could be the next super star here."
I like how he listed Suh ahead of McCoy. :clap But seeing Allen's name as a possibility for the Hendricks, even if he's not on the initial watch list, is pretty cool. It means people are noticing, and he's got potential.Oklahoma defensive ends Jeremy Beal and Auston English are among the 30 players on the first watch list for the Hendricks Award.
...
Defensive ends are considered a weakness in the Big 12 this season, particularly with the strength of inside pass rushers by Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.
Still, I might have considered either of Kansas State's defensive ends Jeffrey Fitzgerald and Eric Childs and maybe even Nebraska defensive end Pierre Allen for inclusion on the initial list.

So while Suh is, understandably, getting a lot of attention, it seems like Allen is not being overshadowed. As much impact as Suh is supposed to make this year, getting any pub for another member of the D Line is pretty cool. The anchor is Suh, who did it all for the Huskers in 2008. Opposing offense's can't just focus on Suh, however, as he is surrounded by talent. Sophomore Jared Crick and redshirt freshman Baker Steinkuhler are both very capable of holding down the other tackle spot. Flanking them are a pair of ultra-talented defensive ends in Pierre Allen and Barry Turner. Allen was one of the team's breakout performers last season, while Turner, a regular in Nebraska's DE rotation since he was a freshman, returns for his senior year after missing most of last season with a broken leg.
