That is a common thought outside the program. The thinking is that we should have never been good anyway...or that we were never really good anyway, which is crazed......and, as such, we will never be able to re-attain that kind of glory ever again. Back to that star-based recruit talk, but there are still people who believe those at the top of the rivals recruit board are the best in the nation. We simply aren't up there enough for them to have that opinion of us.

this day and age, it likey won't happen that we got 30+ years with 9 wins or more again. Even with all the new bowls and everything, and thanks to Michigan svcking last year, I feel our Bowl Streak record will never get broken cuz everyone is just getting so equal.

This is off topic (my apologies) but along this vein - I remember very clearly how amped Florida was to play us in the Fiesta Bowl. They were very confident, and talked as if they were in for a struggle but one they could overcome fairly easily. This is against a team that, ten years later, is legitimately in the conversation for “greatest team of all time.” Part of the final score, to me, can be attributed to how lightly they took us.

There’s something about being from the Midwest, so far from the epicenter of… anything… that makes people think we’re not worthy of being included with the elite of college football. That attitude is prevalent today (and rightly so – we’ve done nothing for ten years) and it was prevalent in the days of our ascendancy, in the 90s, a decade which we pretty much owned.

We can get back to the top, nobody should ever doubt that. We can be what Oklahoma or Florida or USC is. It’s a once-in-a-program’s-lifetime thing to have the kinds of teams we had in the 1990s and we’re not likely to get there again, but to be amongst the top five every year… that’s attainable.

This talk will continue not only about Nebraska but several other teams until a team with lesser talent wins the NC. Year in and year out, USC; OU; Texas; Florida; LSU; etc. win the recruiting battle. In the past several years, these teams have also won the NC. Until a team like Nebraska comes in and wins, the talking heads of college football won't give a team that isn't stocked full of 4 and 5 star talent a chance.

Florida State isn't that far away. I think they are at 26.

True. But Bobby B will retire in the next seven years, and we'll see if that streak stays alive.

After FSU it's Florida with 17, so if the 'Noles can't keep theirs going, we're good for another 15 years.

We'll never re-live the glory years an should just settle for 8-4, theres no shame in that. :WTH
