No Respect...Yet.

We all know what it's been like the last several years. The Huskers have missed out on bowl games, had a coaching change, and hasn't beat a ranked team in years. In fact, at times we were embarassing on national TV. In the last two weeks, we have beaten FAU and Arkansas State...Not to discount those teams, but hardly earth-shattering wins.

We haven't earned any respect nationally this year.

It all starts with this game. This is the team's chance to make their declaration statement and serve notice to the college football world that not only will we beat you, but we'll beat you on your own turf on national television. Man, this game is huge.

Win this game, and the team, I believe, will start to get some looks. Personally, I don't care what the likes of ESPN thinks anyways but would love to force them to take notice anyways.

Yep. Respect is earned. We have earned none. Until we do, we can't take umbrage to any perceived disrespect sent our way by the media.

This is the weekend they earn the respect of the media, fans, and the rest of college football. If they really want it - they will win. If not - they won't.

It is that simple.

Let's see if they have it in them.

the coaches know this the players know this the staff knows this everyone in that lockeroom knows whats on the line and i think they will handle this game with such supreme determination it will shock a lot of people....

THIS IS THE WEEK an announcer will no longer mistake a t-shirt saying zac lee and say "i think they mean zac robinson."

I agree with you guys... a win over VT puts us back on the national stage, finally!

The thing that is killing me is hearing people saying we cant win at VT. A guy that sits 2 rows in front of me was lambasting me about how we are going to lose by 17pts and the D is terrible... blah blah blah. On the next play, the D broke up a pass and ended the drive. I said, if we play like that then we win... How many blown D plays can we suffer without losing? I am guessing we dont have many probs getting on the board, but if we get into a shootout... can we win?

forgot to add... I think we are going to win, narrowly... but a W nonetheless!

It is not that simple. The VT DL is simply better than is the NU offensive line and thus VT will stop our run cold and make is one dimensional. They have more horses -- in the trenches --- than us. Our LB'ers are raw, inexperienced and will be handled easily by the Ol of VT if they hit the second sphere (if our DL can occupy the VT OL and keep them off the LB'ers that would help a great deal).

But there is no doubt that VT has better athletes than NU. It is not just "who wants it more" --- it is NU on the road against a more talented team.

-1

completely disagree. they may have a slight edge against our oline but it is very slight and our dline is worlds ahead of their oline....they have given up 8 sacks in two games this season.

all of our skill players on offense are better than theirs and on d our dline is better than theirs.

we win by 2 tds....

it will get very ugly if we lose and be very hard to regain any stature. I think it hurts us even if we just win by a wisker. WE NEED TO VIRTUALLY DEMOLISH THE HOAKIES

We have the skills and speed to lay a wuppin on em and they had better be ready because Bo has said his old softies will be!!

Really? No doubt at all that NU might have even one or two better athletes than VT? Come on! VT has had a pretty poor offense for several years now. You really think our offense isn't better than theirs? Or that we don't have as good of athletes? Can you name me a single VT offensive skill player better than an NU one? The 2 QB's are quite different, but I'd take Lee over Taylor based on what I've seen so far. Helu is still the better RB. Does VT have a WR or TE the quality of any of ours? (I actually don't know, they might.)
