QB Martinez is Taylor-made

The questions about some guy named Taylor began Saturday afternoon, and they continued after Monday’s practice.

 

Maybe now’s a good time, then, to talk about another Taylor.

 

Taylor Martinez.

“He brings some quickness to the quarterback position,” Nebraska linebacker Blake Lawrence said of Martinez, a true freshman.

 

Nebraska coaches are putting that quickness to good use this week. Martinez is the scout-team quarterback as No. 19 Nebraska prepares to face dual-threat quarterback Tyrod Taylor and No. 13 Virginia Tech on Saturday.

 

“The kid’s fast,” Lawrence said of the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Martinez. “Throws the ball well, too. Throws the ball well on the run. It’s really similar to Tyrod Taylor.

this kid also almost left the program within a few days after he arrived. crying because he's so far down on the depth chart, poor work ethic. wanted to go home, momma said no.

i was gonna say, i have never once heard that he was close to leaving...there would have been a bigger deal made out of it if he was....i dont think thats true.

Oh it has been around that he had issues with teammates, he is a VERY confident young man and is supposedly very vocal about it.
