SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Notre Dame football team's home-game sellout streak appears to be going down to the wire this week.
Tickets for Saturday's game between the Irish (3-1) and Washington (2-2) at Notre Dame Stadium (2:30 p.m. CDT) are still available. The university sent out a news release Friday morning to that effect.
The sale, the release stated, is a result of the University of Washington returning an additional portion of its ticket allotment on Friday.
Senior associate athletic director John Heisler said he did not know the exact number of tickets remaining for Saturday's game at 80,795-seat Notre Dame Stadium.
Notre Dame has a streak of 207 consecutive football sellouts, dating to a Thanksgiving Day game against Air Force in 1973.
In addition, a limited quantity of tickets remain available for the Nov. 21 game against the University of Connecticut as a result of its allotment returns.
