if there lucky 6-6, does pelini and watson really believe that green is no better than that. I just dont get what they see in lee. If green isnt ready to be the starter this year then why in the heck did they waste his redshirt? Thats a calacrap bonehead move.

 
Lee played a pretty good game, his first two picks were off deflections and while that's not generally a good excuse (it's on the QB to place the ball reasonably well), I think it's fair to say that halfway competent receivers have made the catches instead of tipping it to the other team.

He failed in one big area: he didn't make the come back, behind the 8-ball, a minute left in the 4th and 80+ yards to go. That's where his third pick came on a desperate 4th-and-10 situation where it was a turnover anyways.

I think we can say this: our receivers are really, REALLY bad right now.

And that's not gonna get fixed with Green, who's going to throw balls that are much less accurate and much more interceptable by the other team WITHOUT our boneheaded WRs' help.

Also, Green is the 2nd-best we've got and he's got to be prepared in case Lee goes down. I really hope that does not happen.

We just lost to Iowa State without their two best offensive players. I'd just as soon let Lee be prepared in case Green goes down. How much worse can we do than we have been doing? Lee is not capable or scared to run the ball well. There's basically three things a QB can do to help the offense.

1) Make good decisions Lee really has not against decent competition.

2) Run the ball Lee is afraid to or not competent

3) Pass the ball. Lee is not all that accurate and aims the ball rather than throwing it, seldom hits recievers in stride, he may do better in putting the ball through a hanging tire than Green. He may indeed make fewer mistakes passing. But I don't think he will be more productive if Green ends up showing the natural ability to run with courage and a sense of making a play and not timid and worried to death about making a mistake or getting hit. That will open up the running and passing game and give a breath of fresh air to the offense. And if not, what the h*** are we losing? Think lee is the answer next year as well? If not you will be whining that Green needs more time because he hasn't had much experience this time next year if we still suck.

At some point in a losing streak, every team that has a coach with a brain will shake up the pitching staff. It's time.

I put all three ints on Lee. The one to McNeil was tipped and ended low and behind.. he had no chance of catching it but can't fault him for reacting to it. The other was high and behind... the receivers got a hand on the ball which would have been brought it with a great catch but still they were poorly thrown balls...

Ok, I give you that the first one probably shouldn't have been thrown in the first place because it was tipped at first.

But that was the flukiest interception I've ever seen. I'm still amazed that the ball never hit the ground. Oh, and I'm about 98% sure that the dude's knee was on the ground when he got control of it.

 
Lee is not the primary problem, especially Saturday. We turned the ball over 8 friggin' times...no team wins when you do that.

I wish everyone would get off his a$$, because it is getting old. If you think Lee is the problem with this team, then you aren't listening or watching the games.

Same thing goes with Watson. All you Watson haters need to wake up. We moved the ball Saturday, got into the red zone, so we must have been doing something right to get there. If you want to fire Watson, then start coming up with names to replace him - people that are available, or that would even want to come here with our reputation of turning over coaches lately. I think you will end up with a blank piece of paper when you go to make that list. Get off these people's butts and either start supporting the team like a good fan would do, or find something else to do on Saturday until the bandwagon is going in the direction you approve of, because with all this crybaby crap, you are showing that you are nothing more than bandwagon fans that don't pay attention to what is really causing the problems, but would rather just serve up someone's head on a platter.

This calling individuals out (especially players) has got to stop. It is the not classy at all, and does not represent this team well at all. If I were a recruit, I would seriously wonder about the fans that are doing this on a board that is supposed to be supportive of Nebraska Football. I am not saying you need to be a homer, or can't point out what you think might be contributing to the problems, but don't be trying to serve up someones head - it is totally classless!

Get over it already - IT IS JUST A GAME!!!

BTW - My offer stands. If any of you season ticket holders can't stand to watch right now, I will take those tickets off your hands and give them to someone that would really appreciate going to the game. And they won't be the type of people that sit on their butts the whole game, or boo the home team. They will be REAL fans. If your going to bother showing up, at least be willing to enjoy yourselves - you are probably getting a break from your otherwise miserable lives.

Agree on the 1st one being lee's "fault" but as said, it was one of the flukiest plays i've seen in person. seems to be the way this streaks going.....

But DRAINO, the one to Gilleylen? really? how is that a poorly thrown ball? a little high? God forbid a receiver has to jump for a ball... God forbid a QB puts the ball where the receiver can catch it, not the defenders... that pick is solely on Gilleylen...

and the the OP... thread is a joke. because if you think we're going 5-7 with lee, we're gonna do the same thing with Green. He's the backup, he needs to get snaps in case the starter gets hurt. Last year, people were ripping Pelini because he didn't play Witt/Lee whoever was the #2... this year they are complaining that if Green isn't getting the starting job, why is his shirt gone? Green may be the more talented QB, but Lee did plenty of things to win this weekends game, the reasons we didnt, well no reason to go into em. Even some of the bigger Green supporters say that this game wasn't Lee's fault....

Oh yeah I agree the first was a fluky interception.. bounced off 4 guys.. but the thing is Lee still tried throwing it over a defender that got tipped.. very similar to his last int across the middle

the pass to gilleyan was high and behind and yeah still should have been caught.. but thats a cardinal sin for a Qb to leave your receiver out to dry coming across the middle...

I think I can speak for most of the people calling for Lee to be benched in favor of Green in that our record will probably be the same no matter who starts so why not start to build for the future.. Lee just doesn't do enough to win ball games.. and most believe that yeah Green's a freshman and will make mistakes but we will take those over inconstancy and possible big play/home runs that Green brings to the table...

No matter what the coaches see in practice Lee just doesn't play the same way in games... the dude just isn't a gamer.. time to realize it and give Green some experience for next season and for the future... and at best he makes some plays and wins some games this year.

 
I dont see your logic in why its not lees problem. How many great football teams have you ever known that have a sh**ty QB. Well with the exception of Iowa this year.

I cant think of any of the top of my head. Ive seen lee play and he is not a leader. If you show your teamates that your willing to take the hits then so will they. Its not about bo and staff when your on the field. Its about those men standing around you. If you dont show anything for them, there not going to show anything for you. In the little bit i saw Green play, he was more relaxed and mobile in the pocket. Lee looks scared and confused, like hes constantly worried hes going to get hit. Thats what the big boys up front are doing for ya lee. Yea lee had a good pass completion but if your not a leader then whos gonna follow you. Whos gonna trust you when the chips are down. I dont know if green can do that this year but lee hasnt yet. It takes more to be a QB then a good player. Look at the Tim Tebos and Cold McCoys pumping up there teams befor their games. I picture zach lee on his cell phone. If zach can do this, then good go with it. But if hes not going to step up and show his team that hes confident in them and himself then this will continue to go downhill. It starts with the coaches and players. I believe the coaches are doing what they need to do, but players need to do what they need to do.

 
Lee's not willing to take hits? He HUNGERS for hits. Did you see him in that Mizzou game, running the option, getting smacked, jumping p with the biggest grin on his face?

Look at him jumping up and down and making wild celebrations in the 4th quarter against Missouri.

This team has a lot more problems than just Zac Lee at this point. I'd like to point out too that passing is a big, big part of being a QB, and you'd better be pretty good at it to start.

The coaches are not doing what they need to do either, which is to fire up the players regardless of the situation. It's a tough bill but I hope to see that change next week.

I didnt get to watch the Mizzu game but i did watch the Tech game and thats what i saw. Something interesting i saw at the tech game though. Leach keeps the benches off the sidelines when his players are out there. I dont knwo what that does for resting up exactly but it sure allowed them to kick our butts.

Lee is a freaking puss, yeah look at him celebrating after he realized in the 4th quarter in mizzouri, might i add he didnt do anything the first 3 quarters of that game, yeah he was jumping up and down and celebrating, the problem is he doesnt do that when the team is down, look at him blow the end of the ISU game and he never even put us in the tech game his play was pathetic. He has no leadership or command of the offense, and thats a problem. Anyone can complete swing and short slant passes but he is not able to throw it over the middle and when watson dials it up he cannot come through. Heres my proposal, we obviously cannot throw, put in Washington and run the wildcat/option football, smash mouth and lets see what Fraziers same town football player has to offer with his feet. Yeah thats right i said washington not green, i think washington has a spark and maybe its just because i think he could pull a frazier or because i watched his HS games when i lived in FL but hes a stud.
