We can't beat OU

Let's not be this pessimistic, eh?

Although at least we won't be disappointed if it happens.

Truth be told though, game could not go a whole lot worse than it did last year. I think we'll have a better start. But I also think we'll see a couple more pick-6's: in which case, stay patient with Green. I'm the biggest Lee guy on this board I feel, but we've made the switch and it's time to roll with it. Or rather, stay patient with it through the most excruciating of times.

wow. so one bad offense, turn this season into a $hithole, wow! man i've never seen this, call it being realistic or not, it's called believing in your team. My sister BF who is an iowa fan says he thinks Ohio State will beat them, but he won't give up, he won't stop believing, IMHO a lot of husker nation needs to start believing again. Things will get turned around this year.
But....Iowa can score points so your sisters BF has a reason to believe in his team. This Husker offense is bad and I can't think of a Husker offense even in recent history that's as bad. Hell, even in the '05 5-6 losing season they put up 59 in a win against Baylor and 27 in loss to Iowa St.

I've read that this could be a defensive battle, but reality says that OU beats the Huskers by 4 TD's or more. I'm a direhard fan and would love nothing more than to see the Big Red win, but I'm already prepping myself to avoid a big letdown. Sad that we are at this point, but I'd love to eat crow come Saturday night.

What reality? What has OU done against a good defensive team to show that they can score against a good defense?
I'll play the devil's advocate and ask what NU has done against a fair defensive team to show that they can score against a $hitty defense. ie...Baylor, Iowa State, etc. etc. Use Baylor as a comparison - OU scored 33 and had over 580 yards offense compared to NU scoring 13 (not including the blocked punt) and 273 yards offense. Don't get me wrong, I'll watch the game, drink lots of beer and cheer for a Husker victory by REALITY says that they aren't gonna get it done with the current QB mess and lack of running game. We shall see!

As everybody says (and knows) "there is always a chance". But if football games were bet like a horse race that would mean there would be odds. I'd say being realistic and not in the aftermath of an ugly win the percentages would look like

OU blows out NU 60 % chance

OU beats NU >90 % chance

NU blows out OU <1.0 % chance

NU beats OU <10 % chance

I actually think that it would be a little less likely that if they played 10 games that NU would win one, but something like that. It will take a very bad day from OU and a very good day from our offense to have this be anything other than another L. Could happen but manage your expectations.

OU is going to struggle against our defense. I think they will give us a chance to compete. OU is not a normal OU team this year.

I hate to say this, but next weeks game may be over before it starts. This is all on the offensive coaches, they need an overhall. You may disagree, "don't give up you say." I will never abandon this team, just being realistic. What do you all think?
Yea, just like they did K State. :sarcasm Have some faith people.

Hey guess what?

CU had no chance to beat KU.

A&M had no chance to beat Tech.

The one defense OU played they got shut down. See OU v Texas.
And that's the key in my opinion. OU's O-line sucks! If you don't believe me, ask Bradford. He'll tell you the same thing. OU has not faced a team with a defense all year save for Texas and you know the results of that. Oklahoma is ranked 12th nationally for Sacks Allowed. OU is not the powerhouse program people thought they were going to be. They're one good receiver (Broyles) is susceptible to injury again. They're other receivers have a bad case of the droppsie's. OU doesn't have much of a running game either.

NU has a legitimate shot at being OU this year.

OU may not be the powerhouse team people thought they were going to be but they still have a key weapon: Ryan Broyles. He has the big-play-ability that could expose our DBacks (especially if it's West in there). Oklahoma has a legitimate passing game and, even though their Oline isn't very good, all Jones will need are a few key plays were he can get the ball out. Also they run that screen pass to perfection: quick release from the quarterback and blocking from the receivers in the vicinity.

And yes, KSUcks ran the ball on their stout defense but KSUcks' offensive line is playing much better than ours right now.

yes he could expose us.... and suh could vaporize their QB

I am seeing kstate as a more legitimate threat this season after the game last night. VT burned us with a big kick return too. Plus bill snyder is just a sly coach that probably wants to kick Bo's butt everytime they play after 03.

OU is going to be rough. The reason they had a tough time with Texas' defense...5 turnovers. And Texas has an offense that can sustain drives. Our offense will probably have a very difficult time moving on OU's defense which could lead to short fields and a fourth quarter that sees 21 or more points from OU when our D starts to run out of gas.

If watson can prepare for the worst and let it all hang out...who knows. The games where the underdog have won in the past in this conference (and i'm talking underdog like kstate beating texas twice) a lot of risk taking and trick plays came into account. I'm not yet convinced we need to resort to that but a part of me feels like we are heavily overmatched. We'll see how things progress this week.

nah.

I doubt that.

probably can't beat OU either.

I hate to say this, but KSU has a good shot at beating NU.

a real good shot.

they spotted OU 21 points and didn't give up. They really made a game of it.

Next week game against Oklahoma should be interesting!

I am usually not the type to look at a glass half empty, but I feel we are going to be taken behind the wood shed and beat up badly!

I hope Oklahoma coughs up the ball 8 times like we did against Iowa State, than maybe, just maybe we have a shot!

That defense is bad a$$, and their offense can score better than ours even against our defense.

I say OU 42 NU 10

It will be a good practice for us though! That's looking at the glass half full!

Their defense didnt look to stout against Kstate last night...you never know what could happen.

Unfortunately Kstate's offense is better than ours. (wow . . . it hurts to type that.)
