Coach Hawkins Regrets Recruiting His Son To Play At Colorado

I don't think playing the victim card with his son is going to ingratiate himself much to an angry CU fanbase.

The unanswered question is: How many quality quarterback prospects passed up CU, because on the outside it looked like a family business instead of a free impartial contest for the position.

Anyone recall any other colleges offering Cody Hawkins scholarships? :dunno

Everything he says is pretty true though. When you lose, EVERYTHING is wrong and that just becomes a lightning rod.

But he shoulda listened to those guys that said, "What are you thinking? Don't go there, man, don't go there."

Cody Hawkins was an EA Elite 11 Quarterback that year with Freeman, Locker, Mustain, Kevin Riley, Jevan Sneed, Stafford, Tebow, Pat Devlin and Juice Williams.

Oregon offered him, but it was pretty obvious that he was headed to either Boise St, or CU once his dad took the job. If he were a couple inches taller he would have been offered by every school in the country.

He could have done the same thing Reesing did at KU if his dad had a clue.

3000+ yards as a freshman, though with 17 INTs. But his stats fell off every year, as did the Buffs record under him. In a different situation, maybe better coaching, he might've done better.

I believe he broke the career passing record and the career interception record.

this just in...Coach Hawkins regrets taking credit due to Chris Petersen...but not salary...
That has been my contention all along. Every time Hawkins is left to his own devices he wrecks the team. Case in point: He took a Boise St. team which was 10-2 the previous year and goes 8-4. He hires Peterson and look at the run they go on (45-7). After Hawkins leaves, Peterson racks up another (49-4) overall and (31-1) in conference play. Hawkins takes a Colorado team that was competitive and literally destroys them.

Absolutely agree sarge. Peterson is the reason Boise St is so good right now. It baffles my mind when I think what Peterson could do at a bigger school. Peterson could very well be the next Urban Meyer.

Hawkins seems like a good overall guy to me, he's upfront and honest at least, may not be the best coach ever to walk the Earth but
