Kelly to ND

Beat me to it :) Just saw it on ESPN . I think he was also considered for the NU job after Callahan was fired.

It's not a over big surprise. I do think however, it's rather crappy that Kelly is not going to coach Cincy in the Sugar Bowl.
I think he knows he has a lot of work to do, but in these situations you always feel like the coach is bailing on "his" guys.

On a sides note, nothing against Brian Kelly, but I hope Notre Dame fails again for the next few years. I'm so sick of all the extra priviledges they get compared to other teams. Then they try to say it's harder to recruit to Notre Dame because of academic standards and all that BS. They always have an easy schedule, only required to win 9 or 10 games to guarantee a BCS bowl, don't have to split bowl money, their own tv network, etc. I want them to be forced into a conference and put on the same level as everyone else. They're already in the Big East for everything else. Ok, I'm done. :rant

See, I don't think this is that good of a hire.

They need a defensive minded coach. They don't need another "offensive genius".

The Domer's offense is fine.

Kelly also coached defense backs and was the D-Coordinator at Grand Valley State. So I guess that's as defensive as ND wanted to get.
