Leavitt out at South Florida

Leavitt probably would have received administrative leave and maybe a couple game suspensions if he would have told the truth and did a mea culpa to the parties involved, but he refused.

Instead he lied, manipulated, and threatened his way trying to cover up what he did. This is what got him fired.

Miller and his Dad recanted their story, because Leavitt told them he would pull the kid's scholarship and would make sure he would be blackballed if he tried to transfer to another school. Who will people believe? A tenured head coach with 12 years experience, or some player who has been maligned publicly by this coach as a rotten apple. The only person who would not bow to the pressure was Miller's high school football coach, who stayed on the record when many of the unnamed sources wouldn't go public for fear of retaliation.

Good coach or not, grabbing a player by the face mask or shirt to get their attention is one thing, but striking a player causing bodily harm is another.
