I see Spike is showing an hour long special, "Best of Pride Fighting Championship."

I'll probably record this, since I haven't seen many of the fights from Pride. Just thought I'd let everyone know it was on.

I was under the impression that this was a live event? Or is it a compilation of past PRIDE fights?

Since the UFC bought Pride, they own their entire video library. It's old fights. There's a promo on YouTube that shows the whole Liddell-Overeem fight. It shows some other little clips too.

From what I've heard the Pride Fighters were way better than the UFC fighters.....not sure if thats true or not cause I've never seen a Pride Pay Per View before. I know a lot of fighters have come from Pride when joing UFC like Shogun, Rampage, I think Lyoto Machida, Wanderlei Silva, Cro Cop, and some others I can't think of.

Not here anyway. Our Spike channel isn't in HD.

A lot of the well known fighters in the UFC got their start in Pride. Guys like Liddell were probably at their prime when they were in Pride and have been tailing off in UFC.

I used to have one of those "black boxes" about 10 years ago, so we got a lot of pride fights and UFC ones as well. Pride was good, but some of those guys would have gotten mashed by the kids that are in the UFC now.

One of the most aggrivating fights i'd ever seen, was Francois Botha (former boxer that once fought Mike Tyson) against this Dutch kickboxer, Remy Bonjasky. Botha beat the a$$ off this kid for the entire fight, and Remy lands one kick, that knocks Botha down, and they gave Remy the win. At that point I was little jaded twords Pride.

Liddell didn't start in pride. He has always been ufc he fought in pride once as a cross promotion. O a lot of good fighters were in pride but a lot of them have not had the same success after Zuffa purchased pride. The reason I've heard and its just a rumor is that ufc has a much stricter subsabce abuse policy with pride being based in japan they didn't have any athletic commisions to deal with.

They had some different ones on last night. There was a good one between some Brit named Josh Thompson and Japanese guy named Fujita. At they end they were just swinging for the fences and neither would go down. They also showed Rampage's KO slam of Ricardo Arona. Pretty impressive.
