Missouri - Nebraska Victory Bell?

it was because of the one loss. Even though MU was higher in both polls, higher in the BCS, won the head to head, won the division and had beaten i believe 5 ranked teams to KU's 0 zero wins against teams with a winning record.

..... I'm still a little sore over that if you couldnt tell.

You never got the vote because you don't travel well It's not what you do on the field it's what you put in the stands

The opening to Coach said "Nebraska State."

@Fro, I think most everyone agrees that Missouri got screwed in 2007, and again a little last year when Iowa State went to a "better" bowl than Mizzou.
Kind of sad that Iowa St. fans travel better than a (good at all sports university as MU)

Funny.... do you know anything about KU's football fans attendance compared to MU's. If you did you would realize just how stupid your comment was

Not trying to be a jerk...but what's your explanation? Same story happened this year with MU going to the Texas bowl

THe explination was the orange bowl rep not even knowing that KU didnt win their division. It sure as hell wasnt attendance or fans. Ku is continuesly one of the worst schools in the big12 for attendance. MU has been in the top 25. As far as the Texas bowl, it was damned if you do, damned if you dont. They say you dont travel so they stick you in a crap bowl far below where you should be, your pissed so you dont go. see how that works. and FYI in 07 MU was 60% of the then record fast sellout and all time high attendance at the cotton bowl. KU was giving tickets away to the orange bowl and tickets could be bought online for $5. Lots of empty seats that night if you remember.

and gmoose, your not a jerk for asking

Is this some sort of story that I didn't know about? Doesn't sound like a very good explanation to me chuckleshuffle

when they were questioned about the selection they stated KU won the BIG12 north. They had no clue. Who knows why they did it. As i said, Mu ws a clear choice. I cant tell you why they did it. just like you cant tell me, we didnt make the decision. But blindly saying attendance because MU doesnt travel like NE is just dumb. MU travels much better than KU. Mu actually goes to home games, I dont know if you remember, but KU didnt even sell out their senior game in 07, they were freakin undefeated. and as I already stated, they had a hell of a time selling tickets. $5 on ticketmaster and KU was giving away for free, tickets to the orange bowl. Yet MU set an attedence record at their bowl that same year.

The rivalry itself would fall to the wayside. Honestly, it hasn't even been an interesting rivalry except over the last decade or so. Before that, Nebraska was beating Missouri left and right every year.

The trophy is an odd scenario. It was made by a fraternity from Nebraska. So, my guess is that the trophy would just be returned to UNL. But, who knows.

NOT INTERESTING- exsqueeze me- Hello, Warren Powers?

I'm agreeing with you man, MU deserved the bid in 07 more than KU, the timing was just worse for MU. And believe me, I know about KU's attendance woes. I went to the NU-KU game this year in Lawrence for free because the KU athletic dept. was giving students free tickets to give to Husker fans.

im not coming at you moose. i know mu isnt the best at traveling. I know we dont have the highest attendance, but they do pretty well compared to most. Yeah, compared to NU, or TX or OU or any other of the top 10 or so schools we are no where close. but overall MU is almost always in the 25-30 range. It just starts getting old every time some wants to start attendance smack. Its like, do you even know that MU is like 4th or 5th in the big12 in attendence. and ussually more than 10,000 higher than the next closest. PRetty good when you consider that the only teams ahead are TX, OU, NE and sometimes ATM.

Like i said, we are not the best, not even close. But nowhere near the worst either

you're in good company, and it attendance/traveling fans should not be the determining factor in the quality of bowl, especially the bigger bowls. MU has really gotten jobbed too many times.
