Pneumonia

International Man of Mystery
I've been feeling pretty bad for a few weeks now - coughing, fatigue, general "blah" feeling, that sort of thing, but last Thursday I crashed, big time. My energy went to zero; I couldn't dress myself, I could barely stand on my own, my breathing was shallow and I was alternately freezing cold/burning hot. We went to the doctor Friday and found out I've had pneumonia for a while, and it really started growing on Thursday. I was a day from being hospitalized, if that. I got some really strong antibiotics, but I had a hard time keeping them down at first. I think I threw up three times that first day, but by last night I started to feel lots better. Today I'm a LOT better, and I think I'll go to work tomorrow, but for about 48 hours there I was in a bad way.

Mine is about ten days. I'm taking huge doses of antibiotics (because you're a big guy, says the Dr.) and 48 hours after I started the antibiotics I feel worlds better, but it'll take about ten days total to be 100%.

I just don't want to go back to the full-blown attack. That was bizarre and kinda scary.

I will tell you from experience, after the pneumonia is gone it will still be about 2 months before you feel at 100%.

I've had pneumonia 3 times in my life, it sucks big time. You really do feel like you are going to die.
I didn't want to sound like a big baby, but there for a while I was feeling like it was a serious situation. It was almost a relief when they found the pneumonia, and it wasn't something worse.

It's amazing how fast antibiotics can work. I don't feel "good," but I feel so much better in just a short time.

@Sarge - yikes, I didn't want to hear that. Two months?

Yeah bud, it takes about that long for the energy level to come back -- where you don't get that oogie feeling after a strenuous activity.

my son had the same thing for a couple of months and then took abx for about 2 weeks and is feeling much better.

Hang tough dOOd

I got pneumonia three weeks into basketball season my senior year of high school, and kept playing/practicing with it to where it took me roughly four months to get back to full health. Ever since then I get it every winter around the same time, it's awful.

Had walking pneumonia several years ago and it sucked!!! Doc gave me some antibiotics and within about 24 hours I was starting to feel lots better. Stay healthy!

Once I had Walking Pneumonia, the runt of the pneumonia litter. Even that was enough to sideline me for a week.
