You know the guy jacked up that operation is probably dead now.

Surely you're not advocating we sell it and use the proceeds?
Three years ago I would be flat out against such an idea, but now that I really think of it:

- The only people who would suffer would be people buying drugs (if they do all "suffer" as opposed to having fun once in awhile). This is how we bring back natural selection is a society where "natural" selectors don't affect us as much.

- There would be a lot of money in the economy that could also be taxed.

- Jobs would be created for the distribution of the product.

- Drug related crime would decrease as they would have to compete with legal business, as did alcohol related crime did at the end of prohibition.

Basically, there is no good reason besides "morality" for why we are letting a huge source of income go untaxed. People are going to get what they want anyway. I doubt this shipment seizure makes any dent at all in the drug trade.

cue knappy in 3...2....1.... May he have mercy on your soul
By all means, I would love to be educated on the subject. It just appears that there is clearly a product here that people are willing to pay a lot of money for that we are willing to let slip through our fingers. If alcohol were illegal and there were one billion dollars of it seized, it would seem silly to us today that it would have to be destroyed - I mean, prohibition was done away with because we realized how silly this was, right? People who are tired of the "nanny state" mentality of the government don't see the contradiction in this... Someone who has explosives can go do harm to many people, but someone who has cocaine can only hurt themselves - willingly - short of throwing bricks at people. Then if you say "oh, it destroys families", well so does alcohol. So does adultery. So does money. No good reasons.

I used to be totally against the sale of cocaine, marijuana, etc, but the more you think about it, the more sense it makes for tax revenue and potential (legal) business expansion. I do think that it needs to be regulated, like cigarettes, alcohol, and firearms, but there is an opportunity here. Not to mention what it could do to decrease illegal trafficking, and the violence that comes with it.

I also have seen first hand people who have been so heavily medicated on legal and prescribed anti-anxiety/depression drugs that they walk around in either a coma or a state of hyper-hysteria. The legal is as bad as the illegal sometimes and I wonder where the grey area is.

Admittedly, I don't have much info on this other than my own opinions. Are there any law enforcement guys out there (Rawhides!) that can chime in? Bad idea or not?

you have considered where most folks that are addicts get the money to buy these drugs, correct? Its not from working the 9-5.

That would be interesting if it had the saME properties as Bentonite (Plugging the oil spill).

Also wonder if there could be medical uses or turned into some morphine derivative.

Or just give it away in our prisons to thin out the herd.

I say we take it and give it to the middle easterners...get them hooked on it and then sell it to them for ridiculous prices like they do with gasoline for us.

:clap :thumbs

Addicts don't work, they steal. They either steal directly from us or from businesses we buy from. The drug trade costs all of us dollar after dollar.
