If you think we got jobbed by the refs last year,

We'll just have to win those game decisively. We can't afford those types of games that go down to the wire.

The Big 12 title game from last year will seem like a vacation.
I was just telling a friend i was very worried about the same thing! Especially if the Big 12 really is done and these refs blame Nebraska for their jobs.

I'm not paranoid enough to buy into a conspiracy (though the :01 makes it really difficult not to). just saying that a lot of 50/50 and even 40/60 type calls that will consistantly go against us.

We'll just have to leave no doubt. No room to let those kinds of calls to be the difference.

Hasn't that ALWAYS been the case? Refs have always hated on Nebraska...(no bias I assure you ;) )

lol It seems that way over the last few years but I think I'm becoming a strong believer in the whole "you make your own luck" mantra. When your good and your hitting your stride, things will go your way: bounces, penalties, etc.

We haven't had much of a stride the last decade. Even last year-- Penalties weren't the problem vs ISU. Or the last minute vs VTech.

Now if you have refs that, deep down, are bitter towards Nebraska, luck and stride will have less to do with it.

but the holding calls...they started to fade latter in the year, but oh my gosh...and in the big 12 title game where we were pinned at our own 2 or 3 and i think we got back to back false start and holding penalties...maybe it was just one...stuff seems ridiculous

In the reworded words of Dana White:

"Never leave it in the ref's hands to decide the outcome!"

We will just have to submit or knockout all of our oponents this year. :thumbs

I think this is the worst sort of fan speculation, honestly. Every single call a referee makes is reviewed. If they want to get a bump in pay or eventually call NFL games, they can't afford to intentionally throw games to certain teams. If it ever came out (and they are doing this on television), it's the end of their career.

I'm not saying it can't happen, because it most certainly can, but this is a clear case of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Now any time a ref gets a call wrong, or a series of calls, you can say, "Aha! This proves it!" and forget all the calls that went Nebraska's way.

i was thinking the same. have some faith in refs, they are professionals and have a lot of eyes on them and a lot of mechanisms to supervise them. i would guess it will be a non-issue, and any games we do lose, we will have only ourselves to blame.

Penalties may not have been the problem on the last drive of Va Tech, but they were definitely the problem earlier in that game when we had first and goal and ended up punting on a few questionable calls.

i don't even care - i just want to be done with this bs conference and move on to bigger and better things

I thought that drive was in the fourth quarter? Or at least second half?

Couldn't disagree more. We lost the Big 12 game because of an embarrassing offensive performance. The last :01 second debacle had to go someone's way.
