Texas Might Stay in Big 12

i just don't think this is a bad idea at all. texas would have all the power they want, they would be the conference, it would still be fiscally viable. they could easily pick up two or more teams (tcu, colorado state, houston, although it wouldn't happen, it would be great for them to get arkansas, they would be more competitive in the new big 12) to keep the conference championship, because honestly, a conference become irrelevant when they don't have a championship and don't play for a month. you gotta have a championship.

For any of you seriously contemplating listening to Craig James' delusions about an Arkansas in a revamped Big XII, please put down your safety scissors, and make sure your helmets are on tight.

Arkansas invented telling Texas to stick it's conference up it's Bevo.

There's a better chance Turner Gill is a closet Sooner than Arkansas ever going to a revamped Big XII.

although i'm a little offended, i'll still respond. first, i just remember my dad always telling me about how arkansas should have been in the big 12 and they are an old rival of texas from the swc years. so that's why i say that. also, arkansas will never win an SEC championship, let alone their division, so they would be more competitive, which may be a strong motive. i do not think that it is at all likely, but it would be worth pushing for the big 12.

also, stop saying 'revamped', the makes it sound like it will be better, maybe it should be could the salvaged big 12.

Arkansas has been to the SEC championship games more times (3) than Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Mississippi, and Mississippi St COMBINED. They have been to the Championship game as many times as Auburn and Georgia. The only teams with more appearances are LSU, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee. I think Arkansas more than belongs to be in the SEC and has proven it can win and compete for division championships.

not impressed (with the bold part). LSU, Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee are the SEC, no other school matters; especially Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Mississippi, and Mississippi St., those teams are lucky to have winning records.

Those 5 schools have been in the SEC for probably 50 years + each. What about Auburn and Georgia? Those are 2 power schools and Arkansas has won as many division crowns as each. I don't think Arkansas would be more competitive in the Big 12 (what's left of it). Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Miss, Miss St or Texas, OU, baylor, TT, OSU, A&M. I really don't see them being more competitive in the Big 12, not to mention their venom for all things Texas since the dismantling of the SWC. I would be interested to hear why you think this.

You're entitled to your opinion, so I'll leave it at that, but I don't agree and I have ample evidence to support my opinion.

IF they are successful at keeping the remaining teams in the Big 12, I think it will only be a matter of time before Missouri or one of the Oklahoma teams splits the sheets with the Big 12 because of Texas being overbearing.

My thought is that Texas suddenly realized that they were not going to have to pull in the PAC 10 that they do now...no championship games every year in Texas, and no league office practically across the parking lot from them.

The stature of the Big 12 will take a huge hit with Nebraska leaving. They will have to re-align the divisions, putting the Oklahoma teams in the north. They should also look at bringing in maybe TCU and Houston. But even if they could do that, this conference is becoming a nobody conference, and will continue to get rankings in the polls lower than maybe they should, just because of the strength, or lack of, of the conference.

And if there is a push on towards the 4 major conferences with 16 teams each to come to a playoff system, where will that leave the Big 12 and the teams in it? I don't see this realignment as being over by a long shot, maybe only slowed.

i'm really not trying to be contentious. this is just a matter of perception. my perception is that in the Big 12 all you have to worry about is TU and OU, maybe OSU or TTU every once in a while, probably less for TTU now. and that 3 division crowns still doesn't impress me. i have never thought much of auburn or georgia (even if they both get hyped, they never produce, except maybe a season for both), especially in the modern era. the SEC is dominated by Florida, LSU, Alabama and i think those schools are less vulnerable than TU or OU. you are probably right, or the difference is negligible and arkansas won't be competitive in either.
