Not surprising but... Utah to announce their intent to join Pac-10

Nexus

All-American
Holding a press conference tomorrow.

Sources close to UteZone indicate that Utah informed the Mountain West Conference Monday of its intentions to leave the conference. When asked about this report, a representative from the Conference could neither confirm nor deny the alleged report. If sources are to be believed then, the deal to invite Utah has already been done, and is merely a formality at this point. All that would remain of course is the announcement from the PAC-10 and a press conference by the University of Utah.

Good for Utah

With Byu getting left out that is one game that I will not miss......a whole other meaning to the holy war. Must be nuts in Salt Lake City right now, feel bad for the more deserving Mormons.

There goes someone's seat at the table within 5 years.

Utah lost a heartbreaking rugby final to Cal recently (In Columbus, Ohio, no less!) (For those unaware, Cal rugby has won 25 national championships in Rugby since 1980.)

Actually Utah won the finalin the collegiate cup in columbus. That was 7's Rugby none the less, not 15's. Cal's Championships were won in traditional 15's rugby.

You know what is freaking annoying? I watched the whole collegiate rugby tourny over the weekend it was on and I even watched the final where Utah beat Cal. I even started that post with "Utah beat Cal" and I wanted to get a stat for how many rugby championships Cal had, and the google search said 25, including 2010... Which I thought was odd, because I could have sworn that I saw Utah win, but I didn't want to argue the internets, so... Yeah. I got mixed up between 7s and 15s.

Good get for Pac10 IMO. Utah has been a solid athletic program & should add a nice dynamic to that league.

I think Utah beat Cal and upset them that day. What is weird they (the announcers) made a big deal about the womens rugby team from BYU forfeited their final game due to it being on Sunday and took second but the mens team from Utah, which is heavily mormon too, played Cal and beat them in a very close game in OT.
