No guarantees of big money revenue for Big 12

There is so much B.S. flying around right now that the best thing to do is put a slicker and some rain boots on and wait for the flood to die down.

good luck to the Big 12 North with negoatiating now. also if there is a penalty payout by NU and CU, it gets split three ways between OU/aTm/TU. nothing for KU, MU Baylor, etc. I am sooooooo glad we are Big 10 bound. the KC press are saying the Big 12 North basically bought out the south to keep the B12 alive. .....this is so lopsided its almost criminal. the shine is coming off FAST! this league wont last 5 years.

they all just have to get together and vote down texas... :laughpound

USA Today article from yesterday:

However, he called the projected average annual TV splits of $20 million for Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M, with the other schools getting $14 million-$17 million each, "too high, just not realistic."
"Now, who knows? Maybe they can break the mold and come up with a model nobody's seen."

His firm projects an average annual total of $135 million a year for the 10 schools.

Bear in mind that in 2009 the Big 12 pulled in $139 million.

Is that $139m just from TV? That would include the CCG too wouldn't it? Could they be thinking less because there is no CCG?

I'll be surprised if all these numbers end up being that high.

Being here in the epicenter of what would have been a Nuclear Wasteland, they are spinning this like nobody's business. The presser with Lew "The Nose" Perkins was comical. He was all over the place trying to deny that the exit fee, oh wait, it's not an exit fee, would go into a separate "bundle" and that if Tex, OU and aTm did not earn enough money to make them "whole" (I'm guessing that $20Million per year number) then the "forgotten 5" would find sufficient funds from all their "bundles" of money to make them "whole." He would not commit to any of that money to make the top 3 whole would come from the "bundle" of money from the exit fee, oh wait I can't call it that.

Confused yet? I know I was listening to that today.

I wonder if all these press conferences where everyone is saying how much better the conference will be now could help NU prove that there were no damages when they left (assuming there is something in the verbiage of the conference charter about that) so they can negotiate a smaller exit fee- oh crap I can't call it that or "The Nose" may have my legs broken. :worship

One of these reports said that ABC/ESPN threw the money at Texas to keep them from running to Fox (Pac 10) and so they won't have to renegotiate the super-conferences. Tens of millions of dollars spent to save hundreds of millions of dollars. Kinda the opposite of BP

What I don't get is why OU and OSU are staying around? Don't they have any accountants over there that can do simple math? This whole "deal" that Beebe put together is a sham. How long will it take for other schools to figure that out?

I think we need to start a donation drive for the 5 schools. Let´s see...how much does it cost to rent a gun, and if all five stand in a row, how many bullets will it take? Remember kids---Guns don´t kill conferences...Texass kills conferences!

anything they breathe on shrivles up

How much money are the networks going to give the conference nobody wants to be a member of? The Big 12 goes into that meeting room with a black eye. :snacks:

Texas is premier network for football. The entire state from college down through pee wee embraces it. Regardless of the losses, I'm sure some television schmucks are willing to shell out $ just to capitalize on the state rather than the programs.
