Missouri Governor bashes husker basket ball

you maybe pissed about it, and maybe he shouldnt have said it. But what he is saying is pretty true. In NCAA basketball a loss to a top 50 RPI can actually be better than a victory over a 150 or lower team. Lets not get it too twisted. Nebraska and CU basketball have been two of the weakest teams for a while. Nebraska has never finished in the top 6 of the league. and selecting a series record over a small period, most of which contains some of the worst MU teams in recent memory doesnt show anything. 20-12 over the big 12 history, and that includes all of our crap years and probation. If i cherry picked out our worst seasons that included probabtion years the record is 17-5. It's fun to cherry pick :laughpound

Nebraska basketball is very weak and the RPI of the teams in conference and the confernce as a whole will go up without NE basketball. that is just fact. The Govn. is not hte only person to say or write this. The same has been said on SI, ESPN, Foxsports, message boards for 9 other teams, pay sites, city newspapers, campus newspapers, ...ect. You guys are getting upset, but when 20 different people saying something bad about you, maybe you would get the idea that if 20 people say it....there might be a small chance...that it could be true.... :dunno

This is so unbelievably typical of a Missouri fan. If it were 2007 they would be talking about how terrible our football program was. They really good at talking up their teams when they're good and throwing others under the bus, but once their team inevitably sucks again they shut up. Yawn

much of the talk on here is so unbelievable typical of a Nebraska fan. They only care about there teams if they win. Not about the name on the jersey. All of a sudden everyone is a WBB fan and Volleyball is the states second leading sport. Kind of like how everyone was a husker baseball fan 5 years ago. They really good at talking up their teams when they're good and throwing others under the bus, but once their team inevitably sucks again they shut up and no longer are fans.yawn

Except for the fact that in the rare event we have a team other than football that is good at a sport, eg. baseball or volleyball, our higher-ups don't take shots at other Universities because we're mad we got passed up by the Big 10. Nebraska bball obviously wasn't and issue for Delaney, or else we wouldn't have been offered by the Big 10. I'll take the Big 10 commish's opinions over the governor of Missouri. Delaney probably knows a thing or two more about managing collegiate athletics.

That would be valid G, if the Govn were a higher up at the university, which he is not. And if he had stated anything about the wrong team being choosen, which he didnt. He made a comment that a very strong basketball conference just got better by losing its two worst teams. Infact it is no different than the sunshine being pumped by every media outlet in this state that 1 year ago was making fun of big10 football (and has for years) , but now proclaim it the greatest FB conference since sliced bread.

Besides, making fun of NE basketball is like kicking a dying dog. Its not hard and there is no fun in it. :lol:

for a bunch of fans that cling to your history and records in football like they are golden you sure do sound silly if you are truly trying to compare MU and NE in basketball. Mu is not even elite. They are just one of the top 30 or so programs out there. But nebraska isnt even in the top 100. its just silly and you sound silly trying.

If NE football is so great why have they had trouble beating Mu since 2003. hehehe. :facepalm:

So what does anyone stand to gain by saying that Big12 basketball is better without CU and NU? He and everyone else knows that football runs the show. If it didn't Nebraska wouldn't be in the Big12. I just think it's funny that he has to make it so obvious that he's bitter that MU didn't get the Big10 invite like everyone and their brother thought.

Not callin you out Fro, you're one of the few mizzou fans I like :thumbs . But a lot of Mizzou fans (like message board trolls who pop up in 07 and go away in 09) were talking about how the past means nothing when you guys killed us in 07 and 08, but when we won again in 09 they want to talk about the past again. I just think a governor of an entire state should act a little more professorially.

theres no doubt that he would be best served to do what he does best. Heck of a politition. A good Govn by all accounts. But no need to blast to the media. Most MU fans I know would like to see him hung by his toes for the things he has said.

Bout the fans. thats all teams in general. Ne gets blasted and its all about what happened 13 years ago, or a streak of games from 30 years back. or whatever. your not the only ones, everyone does it to turn there arguement. What meaning does 79-02 hold to these kids. Nothing. what does 03-07 mean, well alot more, but still not much. what does 08-10 mean, well just about everything. With that said you will hear, and i bet my life on it, that MU has won X amount of the recent games, followed by husker fan with well we won 25 in a row. its just the nature of a fanatic.

and thanks for the compliment. I am just the normal MU fan. I know you guys would like us alot more if you got to know me and the majority like me. Just as MU fans would like you guys more if they got to see how the majority of you are. I will never get how the majority get blinded by the few.

I wasn't really addressing you. I know you understand the situation. It was more in response to the governor. But...as far as ND they do still have a much better history than Nebraska. The 4 horsemen, win one for the...you get the idea. And UCLA's legendary coach passed and it was a big deal. I really don't have an argument with your statement. UCLA can make a claim to be one of the top programs of all time. The missouri governor just comes off as the typical missouri fan (like you were saying the ones that are stereotyped) acting entitled to their recognition when they haven't done much of anything.

The realities behind the Governors comments only stem from the fact that under Doc, NU was won six of ten games between two programs.
