Predict 2011 Schedule

Since there's nothing else to do, how about predicting the 2011 schedule. Consider:

1. Do the nonconference games (Fresno, Washgton, Wyoming) stay

2. Who will they pick for NU's first Big 10 conference game?

3. Who will be in their division?

4. What non division rival will be chosen for NU?

Here's mine:

Games 1-3 will be unchanged - Fresno, Washington and Wyoming

Game 4: Penn St. - I think they will start NU at home off with a classic - possibly Joe Pa's last year. Non division game

Game 5: at Purdue non div game

Game 6: at Michigan - Non division rival game

Game 7: Northwestern - Div game

Game 8: Non Conference game

Game 9: at Minn - Div game

Game 10:Illinois - Div game

Game 11: at Wisconsin - Div game

Game 12: Iowa - Div game

So my division for NU is Iowa, Minn, Wisc, IL, NW. Michigan will be the non division rival game played each year.

Also, I think they will expect a NU-OSU game in the CCG and will not schedule OSU during the regular season.

I don't think PSU goes into the "west" division. If PSU was in the "west", the "west" division would have 4 possibly Top 15 teams with NU, Wisc, Iowa and PSU and the east would just have OSU and possibly Mich if they get things turned around there.

Funny you bring that up.

The Homecoming Committee is pretty upset with ESPN.

Both want the Kansas game. Neither side is willing to back down. Tough situation.

The more pressing issue is the sponsorship of the Title game. We do have an offer. Not great.

"The Big 10(12) Championship presented by Big XII(X)" but it is too confusing.

And for some reason they want to move the game to Arlington...

But don't worry my team is working on it.

Man, I forgot about that! I'm liking the move more and more. I absolutely despise the Thurs. night games. Outside of the day after thanksgiving games, and the bowl games, EVERY NU game should be on SATURDAYS. End of story.

I feel the same way. With all this talk about "competitive balance" I think people are ignoring the fact that a division with PSU, NU, WIS, IOWA, and MIN will be light years more difficult than the OSU cakewalk division that most talking heads are trumpeting. The only way this split makes sense is if you assume that Michigan will rebound quickly from it's current ineptitude, and I don't think I have to explain to you guys what happens when we make assumptions.....

Sorry, I realize this is completely off topic. I'm just afraid the Big10 will make a huge mistake by over thinking this divisional split, which could lead to a brutal conference schedule for NU while the power in the east enjoys easy sailing into the CCG.

why not something like 4 "rivals" games (every year) 4 "wild card" games (not every year), and one champ game (every year) and not even bother with divisions?

or they could allow for the divisions to be malleable, changed annually or every 4 or 5 or whatever to re-balance. IF they go with the typical idea, then I guess what has been posted are pretty good takes on what will happen.

I agree. But IMO the Thu. night games have a stigma of being "lesser" tams trying to get on TV. I prefer my team to play on Sat.

Thursdays are for Louisville, Boise St and MAC schools. I still don't mind watching them though. It better than the alternatives usually.
