Please turn this off:

"Flood control is enabled. Please wait at least 120 seconds before attempting to search again"

It makes it very difficult to find things.

I searched for 'suh' and go no results.

Then had to wait.

I think search takes up more resources than general browsing and posting, which is why flood control is enabled. But I would like to see that 120 seconds pared way down to 30 or 15 seconds.

 
Also, it prevents bots from running searches over and over and over.

I'd like to pare it down, but it appears it's a server setting - not a board setting. You might want to PM slacker and see what he can do - he's the "log in to the server" specialist on the Board.

 
But I'm not a bot - I'm a whiny user (I was logged in at the time of my search).

10 or 15 seconds would be a nice improvement.

You may not be a bot, but the system has no way of distinguishing between a bot and a user. PM slacker and see what he can do. The worst he can do is say, "I can't change it."

 
The system can't tell the difference between a signed in user and a bot? Perhaps. i think the issue is more that we could have 40-50 members on at a time with no search flood control, and it might overload resources. But I don't know.

Just be thankful it's not 1500 seconds. I literally remember Huskerboard once having a search flood control of 30 minutes or so.

 
so... as anyone PM'D slacker yet? I would like to see the time reduced, but don't want to overaload slacker with a bunch of PM'S

NO!!!

The worse he could do is take away our search function for a year again.

Don't nobody piss him off!

 
After some searching (no pun intended), I found the setting, which is well hidden. The time has been reduced from 120 seconds to 20 seconds.
