Whats with the Hate..........

I ask the same question on why so many Husker fans have such venom towards the Horns.

I can empathize that loss, after loss, after loss, to the same team can build some frustration (See UT's record vs. OU in early 2000's) but some of what I read from Husker fans is a bit extreme.
I concur. It is a bit extreme. It's quite likely that we could very well be heading off to the Big 10 with a 10% winning percentage against Texas while we were in the Big 12. Texas seems butthurt that we're leaving the Big 12, but if Nebraska loses to Texas this year you won't even know butthurt until seeing this board after the game.

I have never really cared much for Texas myself, but it has nothing to do with losses we've sustained to Texas. My disliking of Texas stems from the fact that Texas and Mack Brown should have at least one if not more NC's under their belt. Mack Brown caved into pressure and started an inferior QB over a proven winner. Mack Brown gave up a lot of hardware to get Phil Simm's one million donation.

I disagree. While the losses certainly are frustrating, ever since 2002, there is no reason for NU to even be close in those games. tu has LOADS of talent while NU does not. tu should be embarrassed that it normally takes a bounce of a ball here, a lucky break there, a missed call here, and extra second there to beat an inept, un-talented, irrelevant team.

Meh. At the risk of sounding like an after school special, seems like the teams are actually starting to think we might be legitimate competition now. If they really "knew" that we were irrelevant and bad all this pub wouldn't be out there trying to justify to themselves how much better they are than us.

Why?

Well there's classy comments from Shaggy Bevo

"Class" is overrated in some respects. Not one person I know has ever said that they think less of MB because that game hit 70 points. To be honest, I'd love to see our team never let off the gas against UCLA, OU, KSU, and A&M. Unless of course we're close to hitting triple digits. Anything below 90 is fine by me.
Class from McBrown, saying its ok to beat up on people

They just asked him on Sportscenter what he thought about Vince's fight in the strip club and he said "well the guy flashed the horns down in front of him and you probably shouldn't do that."
General attitude of most Texas fans towards the conference: again from ShaggyBevo (are you for the conference or F*** the conference)

F*** em all.....WERE TEXAS
most posts were like this
Arrogance displayed on any Longhorn message board, where discussions are won by being the most vulgar, insulting and with the most "aggy"s displayed: corn aggy, sand aggie and of course aggy

Which of course reflects Texas Athletic department: from Sam McKewon article

You may not think Brown is the best coach in the Big 12. But he is, unquestionably, the grad media poobah of the conference, and he stole at least part of the league’s thunder Monday. By design? No, of course not. That’s the point. You design it so that doesn’t happen. Again: the Big 12 can’t even manage to protect its own brand for three important days. Somewhere, there’s a disconnect in execution and communication.
And of course forcing the schools to sign the Big 12 oath of allegance. If signed, Dr. Tom would have kept his word. Texas signed it, even as they were talking with Pac-10. If Texas had succeeded in strong arming the Pac-10 to allow Texas to keep their media rights, Texas and friends would leave ignoring their oaths in a heart beat. Pac-10 said no, which was the only thing that saved the Big 12, not Texas.

It just wasn't a good match. Nebraskans and about keeping their word and working hard. Texans are about strutting and foot stomping. To quote Worf: "Texans are without honor"

It gets pretty easy when Longhorn trolls flood your board.
I could say the same about 74Hunter et. al. on the Texas boards... Goes both ways
Sure. But I don't go over there to troll, I tried to have decent football conversations in that intellectual wasteland, and the only response I got was "Your irrelevant, go f@#k your mother."

I guess that is an example of ut class.

EDIT: I forgot all of the stimulating "butt hurt" talk, too. Very impressive.
I'll just give you the same response a Husker fan gave me on this board: "You come to a message board to find class?"

Message boards are full of internet tough guys and people type stuff they would never say in polite society. Is that an excuse? No, just how things are.

We have a winner! Even with the deck stacked against us (recruiting, prop 48s, game in Texas, Bebee, the refs, and .01) we only lost that game by 1 point. Must be scary to know that with everything that has been done to take NU down, we are on our way back, and (at least last year) could be a force to be reckoned with.

Where's my +1?!?!?! ;)

Fair enough. But a level of maturity and civility is expected among reasonable adults. Not so much on ShaggyBever.

I think texas is a honorable state with honorable hard working people. When i was in texas i bought a cowboy hat because hey its f'ing texas and they all wear cowboy hats. I was promply a$$ chewed buy the lady cutting my hair that not all texans wear cowboy hats. I dont think all texas fans or people from texas are bad people. Just like not all nebraska fans are cocky and throw out the 5nc thing. I just think this whole thing about blameing nebraska for the quote , unquote demise of the big 12 is unfounded and childish. It just makes those other teams half to work that much harder to get to the top. Maybe thats what there upset about the most. I duno its still pretty stupid to me. And the fact i read and hear about daily pisses me off even more.

Try that on this board!

I feel proud to be apart of this board where there is more reason and wisdom than say a Jr High locker room

Again this board represents the class of the Nebraska fans (for the most part)

What about the first 5 or 6 years in the Big 12? People can say all they want, but TO got outcoached plain and simple in the 1996 Big 12 Championship game. We've had 4 coaches who've went up against Texas since we've been in the Big 12. Solich is the only one who's managed a victory. When the Big 12 was formed, Texas really wasn't relevant. They fired a coach just like we did. Texas in the 90's had very similar records to Nebraska in the 2000's with some nice 5-6, 6-5, and 7-4 seasons.

So i don't hang around the board much and i don't watch espn or anything during the off season because i need to focus on life. When it gets closer to august i start to become obsessed about NU football and whatnot. But with all this conference stuff i've paid more attention and now i have some questions for the Husker Board.

Whats with the NU hate. Why are so many teams thinking nebraska is the biggest pile of sh#t for leaving the big 12. All i have heard for the past 5 years is that we are irevelant anymore. We cant win the big games, we don't matter in the scheme of football anymore. So we leave to better ourselves and now all the other big 12 teams hate us. No one is hating on colorado and they jumped ship first. I thought we didn't matter, i thought we weren't anything special anymore. So many backward mother f'ers topsy tervy people who dont know sh#t from f#*k. Im so sick and tired of the media playing nebraska to be the bad guy. What the f#*k is so huge about us leaving because no one cared about us before.

And on top of that what the hell is the hate for NU before all of this. The team has won 5NC which is a good amount and had a decade of kickass football but thats in the past. Why are so many people holding a grudge for nebraska. Im wondering if people in other states have this because in iowa there is just a hate for them.

I have a feeling its going to be even worse living here with the iowa fans. I have no problem with iowa fans but aparently they have a problem with me. Its just a football game guys. I like winning just as much as the next guy but im not going to sit there and spend 15 minutes of my day talking about how awsome the 90s were or my 5NC i have sh#t to do. And even so i didnt win those, im just a guy who wears a jersey, watches the games. I didnt run of the field for that stuff. Thats why i dont take it that seriously and you shouldnt as well. But there are always going to be crazies out there i guess. I guess i have better things to do with my time then worry about what your qb is doing so why are you obcessed with my teams.

End Rant.
Well when you are 1 of only 2 teams left in the BCS conferences that haven't beaten a top 19 team since november 2001 people seem to perceive you as irrelevant in the current standing/decade. Duke is the only other team besides Nebraska.

But that is not the reason for MY hatred towards Texass. It's their arrogance, self importance, and thought of entitlement.

Yes and that is extremely embarassing. But that will end this year, unless Texas screws it up and loses 3 games before we play them.

It's not that we're arrogant, it's just that we know we are better than you :woo HOOM'EM :woo :) :)
