Dan Hawkins would like a contract extension and he`s not afraid to say so.

In a meeting of head coaches in the Colorado athletic department earlier this summer, a senior staff member asked the Buffs` head football coach if there was one thing the department could do to help his program succeed this season, what would it be? Multiple sources in the room that day told the Camera Hawkins responded by saying the school could give him a contract extension.

Hawkins confirmed the story after practice Wednesday. When asked why he chose to answer the question the way he did, he said, "Just the continuity, stability."

What about the idea that having three full seasons remaining on the current deal already provides continuity?

"To some degree," Hawkins said. "But you`re talking to recruits and guys on your team and all that kind of stuff."

...Sources said Hawkins` remark surprised everyone who was present, including athletic director Mike Bohn, who took heavy criticism, along with Chancellor Phil DiStefano and President Bruce Benson, for keeping Hawkins in Boulder following a 3-9 season last fall. Bohn did not respond to the request in the meeting.

:LOLtartar I have no words wow!! I will pose this question is this as bad as callahan saying that he has done excellent in every aspecto of his job? I may have the billy c quote a little off but didnt he say something like that on his way out.

Sure, you can have the extension, Hawk, but in order to sign the papers you're going to have to step out on this high ledge here...yeah, no, it's totally normal. Just a few more steps closer and...

An extension??! Mike Bohn should guarantee Hawkins that he will get an extension. To go along with those guaranteed 10 wins from last year. Ha ha! What a tool.

I think it's obvious that Hawkins has completely lost it. If Colorado had the money, he would have been fired a while ago.

Honestly from a recruiting standpoint this makes all the sense in the world. He was asked what they could do to help the most. That's it, start by guaranteeing who the coach will be for a few years. All this talk throughout every season of coaching changes is doing the most harm to the program. Either stand up and say Hawkins is the coach more make the damn change already so the program can get moving forward. Now with all this said, I hate Colorado and I am loving what is going on over there. :laughpound
