Helu touches

Just keep Helu healthy for those games when we really need him. I'm gun shy about giving him too many touches--especially in games where we don't need him to win. He's like an old Jag with 6 carbs--he runs great when they're all in sync, but keeping him "in sync/healthy" is the problem.

I was most impressed with that TD Helu had. He showed strength and push we've never really seen out of him. It's not like he's a mystery, we know he has the capacity to be great.

Yeah and not to mention his run that got called back because of a block in the back. That would have easily been his long for the game.

I like the depth we have at running back, I think we played very vanilla on both sides of the ball, and obviously with our running game of how many touches. We don't want Helu banged up too early, and why waste carries for him and Rex in the WKU game, it just saves them for bigger games later in the season. I expect Robinson to get more carries though because he is more of a bruiser type back. I was impressed with the explosiveness of our running backs out of the backfield in the 2nd half though.
Robinson was the only one I wasn't overly impressed with. His first carry of the game was a loss, and he finished with 4 attempts for 7 yards. His explosiveness wasn't quite as good as I expected it to be.

But, collectively, they all played very well.
Good point on Robinson. I just meant he is built for more of a bruiser back, but not necessarily had a good game. I think on his first carry someone missed an assignment up-front, at least that's what it looked like, I think it was a run to the right side.

Who were the backs that played in the 2nd half? Okafor? Mendoza? I think I'm missing someone else...
Austin Jones scored a TD.
Lester Ward was also in there for a few plays and had one ore two carries in the 4th.

I don't remember seeing Mendoza out there. Guess I missed him. But it was good to see the other backs get some touches.
Didn't he move to defense!

I think i saw him on special teams.

save Helu...he's proved it last yr that if he gets 20-28 carries in a game he can be up over 150 yds. But then he gets hurt. save him for the long haul
