"They're well-coached," Pelini said. "They have a good mix of run-pass. I think they're really balanced. They're a good football team."

Idaho is led by senior quarterback Nathan Enderle of North Platte, regarded as a strong NFL prospect (see AP photo below).

Enderle may test Nebraska's inexperienced starting linebackers -- sophomore Alonzo Whaley and juco transfer Lavonte David -- who struggled with communication and aligning the defense Saturday night.

Pelini saw "big improvement" in those areas Monday, he said.

You know the cliche: Teams often make a big jump in improvement from game one to game two. Well, there are reasons for the cliche.

"I think you have to make a jump because you get the first-game jitters out and all those things," the head coach said. "You get a little bit better idea where you are. You get a little bit more into game planning.

"I do believe this: You have to get better every week. If you want to play well at the end and want to compete for a championship, yeah, I want to make a big jump this week, but I want to make a big jump every week because you have to keep building and keep moving on and keep getting better."

Coaching sounds exhausting. I want a career where I can bust my a$$ for a few months, get a nice promotion and settle into mediocrity whilst accumulating small annual raises. This guy has to be great everyday.... guess that's why he gets paid the big bucks.

You can do that as a coach. BC does

Saw a couple Idaho games/highlights from last year and noticed Enderle likes passing to the middle (TE, HB and RBs), one of his most proficient areas of the field IMO. So, this is no doubt a huge game for our LB corps. And honestly, why wouldn't he test our youngsters in the middle? It's arguably our weakest position vs the pass, so it would be worth trying to expose that if you're Idaho or any other team facing the Blackshirts.

We're going to have to be careful with passes over the middle. I remember that killed us last year against Kansas State.

Our best means of combating their quick passes will be quick pressure against Enderle, preferably without blitzing. Hagg and the LBs (Whaley and David) need to shore up their coverage across the middle on those quick-hitters, giving the line time to get in Enderle's face.

Enderle isn't a mobile QB, so we should be able to pressure him quite a bit. I imagine we'll play a lot of bump-and-run coverage and mostly man-to-man.

With Enderle sitting back there like a statue, I hope to get a comfortable lead then go after him hard with the blitz. Plus I just wanna see Crick try and kilt him, like he did to Jakes from WKU.
