is BO putting his best defensives on the field here at NU, or were they better at LSU or even OU?

D - Too early to tell (at least for 2010).

I'd have to go compare stats and SOS before declaring 2009's defense "better" than any other.

His defense's at L.S.U were ranked #3 overall all 3 years he was the defensive coordinator there. He was co-defensive coordinator the one year he was at Oklahoma. Of course last year's D with us ranked #1 overall in scoring and pass efficiency defense. I voted Nebraska.

I think it's better at Neb than it was at his last to stops because, he is able to build it the way he wants it, and doesn't need an OK from anyone. He knows he has a stock pile of talent waiting their turn, and he is not afraid to use them at any point, in the game. You have to love what he has done with these players so far.

I was at the Ariz/Iowa game on Saturday. I watched a quicker Ariz team, maybe not faster, disrupt Iowa all night. Constantly in their back field, and finished off the night with 3 or 4 straight sacks. That's the kind of quickness Bo has at Neb now. I was worried we were going to go back to those big slow teams of the late 80's early 90's, once we headed to the Big-10. I don't think the Big-10 is quite ready for the speed and quickness that Bo has put together. We should have a good chance to do well in our first year in the Big-10 next year. IMO

GBR!!!

Last year's D was unreal. Towards the end of the season it was like they were playing with 13 guys out there. No one could run (at all) on our 4 man front and the secondary was ridiculous.

I think this is something that has to wait to be determined. I'm not talking about the end of the year, or next year.

This is something that I think has got to be determined maybe 10 or 12 years down the road. I'm not even sure he's reached the midpoint of his career yet.

first, i am bored. have you been on huskerboard lately?

second, he was only at OU for one year and lsu for a few. so if he stays here for over 5 years, i would hope that would be his best defense, but he was not afforded that benefit at the previous schools. that is why i think the question is relevant now. also, it is more of an open-ended conversation starter.

Our defense was simply incredible last year. Winning ten games despite almost zero offense is just downright amazing.

I voted NU....

Heck, with his glue fingered secondary this year they just "might" end up as good or better (if that can even be imagined).

i was one of those who did not think the defense would drop off too much with SUH. i thought the front four would still be strong and with the secondary, we would be fine. however, i realize now that we miss him most on rush defense. he either freed up a db or made the four man front seem like a 5 man front; basically he made our defense play 12 strong. hopefully we can adjust and stop the run without giving up the pass.

Yeah, it's a concern. But Bo's blackshirts somehow seem to come on like junk yard dogs as the season progresses. Maybe they will this year too? If so and with this year's offense.....the rest of the BigXII better tighten their chin straps.

I understand your bored, but think about this.

What if the question was asked, "is this T.O.'s best team" after he lost the 83 Orange Bowl?

Thing is, it's tough for us to say at this point. Who's to say in 4 or 5 years, after we're firmly ensconced as a national power, we start recruiting even better than we are now, that Bo may have one of the most insane defense's ever constructed.
