Penn St. vs NU 2011

All-Conference
With Penn State not doing so hot this season, will they pull a Florida state and send Joe Pa to the exits? Im wondering because id sure like to see him on the sidelines for one more nebraska show down before he is gone... I think the pressure is on in happy valley and they may send Joe pa on a graceful exit.

They've been saying that since at least 2000. I don't think Joe Pa goes until Joe Pa is ready to go. Or dies.

The question then becomes, how does Penn State hold up with the architect of all its greatness gone ...? By way of comparison, Fla St. looks to be turning things around already.

I know they have been stating this for years. but i think it may come to fruition soon.. but i guess we shall see. im with you, he should be able to stay as long as he desires, but at the same time penn state wants to be successful. maybe they find another position for him to still help the program? who knows, we shall see.

My brother is out on the East Coast in Penn St country and says the fans, at least, can't imagine asking Joe Pa to go. It's like they're willing to go .500 just to give the old man the final say. Hell of a lot of respect for him out there, I'm told.

I don't think he runs the day-to-day of the program, anyway. Heck, half the time during games he isn't even wearing a headset.

I think if they were ever gonna push him out, they would've done it back in '04 when they were coming off back-to-back losing seasons. I remember some talk about how "the game has passed him by" and all that, but he's put together some good years since -- they've won 11 games three times. So if the '03 and '04 years didn't get him shoved out, it's hard to imagine this year will.

And good, I say -- I think what FSU did to Bowden was embarrassing. Who the hell were you before Bowden? Who was Penn State before Paterno?

yeah. the assistants im sure do all of the work. he is more of the closer i assumer when recruiting.

I cant wait for this game(ill be going). Even in Connecticut Joe Paterno is huge and fans here do not want to see him go, however few have said they are unsure what the future lies with him and the program and who a replacement could possibly be. I know the other coached do a lot of the work, but can you imagine having the opportunity to play for Joe Paterno the legend in happy valley? He owns the state of Pennsylvania
