Sam Houston (2-3, 1-1) got its offense going late in the first half, scoring on a 3-yard TD run from quarterback Jamal Turner.
But, for the most part, Bowie managed to hold Turner in check. Turner entered the game with 14 consecutive 100-yard rushing games, and needed a 60-yard TD run late in the fourth quarter to make it 15 straight.
"I thought our defense played really well until the middle of the third quarter," Perry said. "But Jamal Turner is a great player, and that was a great run he had at the end."
