Welcome to Stillwater

Thanks for posting, Andy. I would have loved to have gone down to Stillwater. I went down to Manhattan and enjoyed the heck out of it. I would think Stillwater would be just as enjoyable. Hopefully we, as Husker fans, can expect the same outcome as our last away game! ;)

That's a good question about getting from Stillwater to Perry. The bars close at 2am. There is limited taxi service, but I don't know how far they would drive. Perry is known for Charles Machine Works (aka Ditch Witch), and very little else.

95husker - There is a quirky place to eat in Ponca City called The Rusty Barrell (sic). The entrance is in an alleyway. You have to knock on the door, the host slides open a little door, and asks you what you want. "Reservation for Dr. RosenRosen". Heh. Anyway, good steaks, reasonably priced. Don't know if you've ever heard of Head Country BBQ, but it's based in PC. Dougan's BBQ is also there. Both are better than any BBQ you might find in Stillwater.

I have an off the topic question... but near perry (if im not mistaken, its been almost 5 years) is a farmhouse east of a town, (could be perry could be north of there all i remember was it was east of the interstate) and at this residence there are huge bilboards and signs allover the yard, with no parking signs all around it along the highway. and on this corner of the section its all fenced in and gated and a little house sits in the middle of it. i do not recall what the signs said but it had to do with something controversial in the community i believe..... do you have any idea what i am talking about?

Yes. That is correct. The house is still there as well... As you travel east on the highway from perry towards bills corner, which will lead you to stillwater, it is about 5-10 miles east of Perry. I believe some of the signs have been takin down but the last time i was in Oklahoma which was oct 1st there was a few there as well. Its kinda a weird place.

Not sure about the story? I also know there was a similar house in the middle of Blackwell, Ok. There was a fella there who had signs posted all over his residence kinda in the same fashion as the Perry one.

I didn't read the story you posted but from my time working as a 'pool boy' around Stillwater/Perry I heard a bit about it. What I was told was that the man living there for one is a nut, but that is besides the point. From what I can remember he used to raise cattle. I guess one of the neighbors was a competitor in the cattle business and mysteriously his cattle either started vanishing or dying I can't remember. So, obviously when you are paranoid you automatically assume that it is your competitor doing the damage. I guess he went to the local Perry politicians/police to launch a complaint or get him arrested what have you. The Perry folks already thought he was a nut so they didn't give him a second look....Needless to say he took this as the whole town of Perry was in on the scam and he vowed he would never spend another dime in the town of Perry and he had a witch put a curse on the county that they would not have a good crop for "X" years.

The END

Cliff Notes

Like I said I didn't read the link so sorry if this just reaffirmed. PS..Good luck on the game Saturday
