Longhorns fired their O.C.

I understand fans gripes (mainly from reading to much shaggybevo) with Greg Davis, however I want to know why the fans give Muschamp a "free pass" after some crappy defensive showings???

From what I heard, Mack might not have been the driving force behind this decision, which is quite interesting.

Years and years of incompetence. He was only propped up by how good Young and McCoy were. Muschamp's D has a bad year but he has a good track record overall. I know you could make the same rationale about good players on D making the coach in the past, but I can bet you this: if they fired Muschamp, somebody would snap him up as DC in a heartbeat; Davis will be lucky to be OC in Div 1AA, or a position coach in 1A.

I'm actually surprised some people on this board aren't calling to hire greg davis and fire watson. Texarcher who are you wanting to replace davis?

Malzahn, Chryst, Helfrich, or Holgorsen would all look great in burnt orange.

Early rumor locally is that Holgorsen is choice #1 and that he's definitely interested. He makes $450k and Texas could double that, matching what we pay Muschamp.

He plugged in a 26 year-old baseball player as a first-year starter at QB and the guy threw for over 4,000 yards. And he turned lightly regarded three-star prospect Justin Blackmon into freaking Justin Blackmon.

Holgorsen is an upgrade over Greg Davis like a Porsche is an upgrade over a Kia.

And Major can be moved to quarterbacks coach and we can go get a real running backs coach, just in time for Malcolm Brown to come on the 40 Acres.

I want to hug the whole world right now.

They are talking to a texas writter on unsportsman like conduct and they said its unconfirmed. He actually said that Mac Brown said nothing has been decided and nothing will be decided today.

I wouldn't count my chickens just yet. What your program went through this year isn't the kind of thing that you just get over in a season. Texas looked like a bunch of quitters out there a lot of the time. Installing a new system doesn't happen overnight, either.

Not trying to play Buzz Killington, but bevo isn't out of the woods just yet.

Holy crap, guys, you might live to regret this one.

You are talking about firing a pretty dang good OC (not sure if he is supposed to be as good as OU's but nonetheless), who has been in this system for a long time, to replace him with some hotshot top name to come in here with his own philosophy. Sometimes change can be good, but how long you think a guy like that would stay, anyway?

I don't get this one at all, and I think Texas fans will be sorry before the end. Whole team was a problem this year, but it's not like Mack Brown forgot how to coach. There will be down years...
