Some Perspective

HuskerTex

Walk-on
Here's our record since 2000:

2010 10-3 #17

2009 10-4 #14

2008 9-4 NR

2007 5-7 NR

2006 9-5 NR

2005 8-4 #24

2004 5-6 NR

2003 10-3 #18

2002 7-7 NR

2001 11-2 #7

2000 10-2 #7

We haven't had two 10 win seasons in a row since 2001.

We haven't been ranked in the top 25 two years in a row since 2001.

Bo, as our head coach, has never won less than 9 games.

With our record this year, we have elite status.

It's been 9 looong years of humbling, embarrassing, struggle to get back to the top tier of football. What's with all the whining? Sure a Big 12 championship would have been icing on the cake, it would have been perfect to tell the Big 12 to kiss our a.. as we went out the door, but we still have a lot to be proud of.

Remember our teams from 2004 to 2007? They QUIT in almost every game. They didn't play injured. They didn't CARE.

We should have greeted our players coming back as heroes, not heels.

I'd take our players over any other in the country right now. They play for us, and they play with pride. I'm proud of them.

These players, OUR players, ALL of them, have lived up to:

"Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory."

I think its been more this year about, "what couldve been?" At one point we were #4 in country and we let it run down our leg towards the end of the season. We had a chance to show up in big games and show everybody we are back and failed everytime at it.

Dont tell me Okie State was a big win..... they are absolutely terrible on defense.

As a long time Husker fan. I married into this wonderful CFB team in 2000 and have been through the heartache of the mid years.

As my first post on Huskerboard, I must say you are right on HuskerTex! I stand up and applaud our fine young men in red. They wore their hearts on their sleeves the entire season. All the if's and but's are just that. If TM would have been healthy, things could have been different. Who knows! Bo and all the coaches are on the right track. We have to stop ousting everyone and be excited that we have a good young football team that with continued good coaching and direction will get us to the vey top.

My hats off to the Nebraska Cornhusker Football Team!!! Job well done!!!

It's funny you mentioned the bolded part because a lot of us were saying the very same thing last season when it was all said and done minus the Texas Tech game.

Hang in there, buddy. :cheers

Can we add to this "perspective" the holiday bowl rematch with washington?
Nebraska just got passed over by Missouri and will play Washington in a bowl game... powerhouse? I guess in your own mind. It just so happened that the B12 was very weak this year, and next year those middle of the road B12 teams will appear to be better because Nebraska will not even be around to keep them in check.

Next year Nebraska fans will have to hear how great the B12 is and how teams like Kansas State would own the B10!
