Look at our damn DB's! We rarely let a big run play happen. I haven't seen a team smoke us all over the field. These athletes are well trained and conditioned.
Agreeeed. There are plenty of sh**ty strenght and conditioning coaches out there also. Dobson is great.zoogies said:A little healthy skepticism is good, but I think Dobson has more than lived up to the hype when he arrived. Probably the best hire after Bo that was made that offseason. It was a real turnaround.

I'm not sayin you can attribute these solely to Dobson. But I get the impression Dobs has our guys in pretty good shape.
Yikes. I know the Combine isn't exactly the best indicator of football acumen or success, but those are scary results no matter how you look at it.Ricky Henry finished last in the bench press at 20.
Ricky Henry finished 2nd to last in the vertical at 24
Ricky Henry finished 2nd to last in the 40 at 5.75
Ricky Henry finished 2nd to last in the broad jump at 7'6"
Keith Williams finished 3rd to last in the vertical at 24.5
Keith Williams finished almost last in the 20-yard shuttle
Keith Williams finished 2nd to last in the 3-cone drill
:yeahBut Henry was supposed to be this great physical beast. I find it hard to believe he was such a beast when he couldn't do as many bench reps as Niles Paul.
I don't know. Maybe he's just "football good" and not such a great performer in the weight room. Stranger things have happened.
This is the biggest thing that Dobson has done. Our 09 defense (arguably the one of the best we've had) played a ridiculous amount of snaps, shut down so many offenses, and our starters were in for almost the entirety of every game.. Yet, our guys weren't getting gassed. That is huge.Look at our damn DB's! We rarely let a big run play happen. I haven't seen a team smoke us all over the field. I just figured that if he's nuts aggressive, he'd have to have nuts strength to back up that aggression. Doesn't do much good to be aggressive and in-your-face if you're just going to get smooshed by the next D Lineman you face, I would think. Was he? I thought he was supposed to be just nuts aggressive. I don't remember if he had a reputation for being really strong or fast or whatever, mostly that he was bang up crazy.
This is something that is discussed on weight rooms all the time. Idk if I believe it or not. However, it is true that they must lift the weight at larger distances. I don't want to get all physics on you, but the farther the distance the more force its going to take to move a mass. Momentum also plays a factor. Was he? I thought he was supposed to be just nuts aggressive. I don't remember if he had a reputation for being really strong or fast or whatever, mostly that he was bang up crazy.
Niles benched more than just a few OL at the combine too, he did have that rep as a physical freak.
I'm not sure about this by the way - do longer wingspans make it more difficult for some of these OL to put up reps compared to really strong, but smaller guys?
