Iowa game

Hate to rain on your parade, football games are won with TD's and field goals, not GPA's...
Hey I am not going to argue with you, this is your board. Science is however.
Nah, it's my fault, I thought this was about the Nebraska/Iowa football game...
Game? seriously dude, you all gonna need a miracle to even put a team on the field by the time Iowa gets to you. Then on top of that our "new" qb should be about ready to unleash the cannon, whoops that got your head spinning, well wait, it gets better, Coker, our back runs around 230 pounds. Oh but he is slow, you say. I invite you to watch him shread Missery's back field. Mark my words. Iowas O next year will be as bad as Wiskeys O last year. The D will take a hit but hey we have been ranked like in the top ten for most years since 2000 or so. So a slide on D to even, oh I dont know 20th and a high powered O, sounds good to me. Don't kid yourself Iowa does not rebuild anymore.
How do you go from a GPA arguement, that is completely irrelevant, to the aforementioned bipolar tirade, that makes Van Gogh look like Mr. Rogers...
Well you obviously do not want to talk about Gpa's and the science of football, and instead wanted to talk football. ie: smack and who's bringing what to the party, so I made an effort to talk sh@t wicha. But if you cared to research it, you would find that what I am saying even thou it may be surrounded with bs is quite frankly, the truth.

That in no way helps your argument. Did you watch Roy Helu tear them apart? I'm guessing not.

Oh yeah, and Daniel Thomas was also 230 pounds and was supposed to wear our defense out, but look how that ended up. 63 yards on 22 carries. I personally am not that worried about Iowa's offense. My biggest worry is if our offense will be healthy enough to to be competitive.

Jsneb, he was "attempting" to talk smack, like his offense is going to "attempt" to score on our defense

Yeah he posted that as I was writing mine.

If by score, you mean like a sailor on leave in Bangkok. I agree. Football 101: Make a team one dimensional. Bo knows. Iowas line will most likely be the best in the B10 this year, have one heck of a RB, got a cannon thats been seasoned about the right amount of time, got some good big recievers, the recipe is starting to look real good now.

Eh, I'm not that worried about you're "cannon" QB. Sure he will have a year of starting under his belt, but Bo and Co. has a reputation of making any QB look like a freshman. Also we have Dennard who will cut the field in half. Hopefully your WR's are ready for our "illegal tactics."

My only concern for our defense would be if our whether our front seven will wear down over the course of the game. But we didn't against K-St and their 230 pound RB, granted their line sucks. However our front seven only loses one starter (that might actually make us better) and will be better this year. This game all comes down to our offense. If we turn the ball over or go three-and-out every series, our defense will eventually wear down.

I'm continually surprised at how easily Big 10 fans question Nebraska's defense.

Two years in a row, Nebraska has been excruciatingly close to winning the Big 12 championship, and the defense is the ONLY reason. In the last two years, the Blackshirts have made Tyrod Taylor, Colt McCoy, Nathan Enderle, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, and Nick Foles look not bad, but mind-numbingly terrible. These are first round draft picks, many of whom had good running games to help them out, and they routinely ended up with stats resembling Jake Locker's 4/20. The Blackshirts did it to five-interceptions-Landry Jones too, the only QB who was able to somewhat rebound in the rematch (with a rousing 23 points...)

Hey Big 10 Conference, let me help you out - it's our offense. If you want to smack talk, just make fun of our pathetic, unable-to-score-a-touchdown-in-big-games offense. The Blackshirts, however, are the most dominant unit in the conference, one of the most dominant in the country, and the 2011 version returns with an All-American at each level. Nobody's going to beat us by scoring a lot on our defense.

Nobody gives our defense any credit. How many times have you heard that the opposing QB will be too much for our defense?

Yeah, I get a kick out of how all these "armchair analysts" think that they're going to score at will against our defense.

When we lose, we beat ourselves either with turn overs ,penalties, or when the O coordinator goes all "Callahan"...

With a more than likely top 25 D, or more. I'll take those odds. I can't see how the O AND the D are not both ranked fairly high next year. Now this said injuries play a big role. But thats the same for all teams that have people that are just "that" good. I mean Iowa has proven for YEARS they can take a 3 or 4th string RB and still win. Look at when they played LSU, they had the worst running record in their history that year. But they won. Oh and I'll be nice and say that against top 25 teams you played last year you were 2-2. I would also say that to put it into perspective, Nebraskas D was like 10th or so (cant recall off hand) last year, and Iowas was 15th. What I am saying if Iowas D slides to much past 20th this year, I would be shocked, and the O should be close to what Wiskeys was last year (dont know off hand what their O ranked, but I think it was up there) . Again I say I like the recipe.

If you guys win, it'll be some asinine score like 10-9, or 13-12. By no means, will it be some steamroller, woodshed performance.

The only reason Iowa would beat us, is because our offense will spit the bit. It'll be no different from the other games we've lost due to lack of offensive cohesion.

Our biggest concern is obviously gonna be our offense, now we have a new OC so that could make a difference, but we still don't know. Now if we can limit our mistakes and not put our defense in a bad spot which we have done far too many times, then I like our chances. If we lose, it would be because our offense couldn't score and/or gave Iowa short fields.

And that could very well be. That was my point, Iowas D has been good for a LONG time and I dont see a big slide, a slight one maybe, but not a big one. On the other hand Iowa's O has stuggled alot in the past and ended up playing alot of low scoring games, and they had to reley on the D. This year, I think the O will be one of the best in the B10 as will the D, like I said I doubt they drop below 22 or so in D nationally.
