Ranking the B1G QBs

Vandenburg's going to be much better then Stanzi and that's why they love him. Better then TMart, eh ? Not sure. Passing ability ? Yeah, the kid has a cannon. Athletic ability ? Not even close, TMart by a landslide.

Yeah we are not much for running qb's. They should be able to scramble but that's it. I have never looked it up, but I wonder how many running qb's make it thru without a fair amount of time missed due to injury. I would think it's a fairly low number. Besides, when you do that, it's alot of pressure on a qb, to carry the whole O and it's already a pretty high pressure position. Running is what 220 plus pound backs are for.

My concern is what our QB rates going into next year? Tell me this and I give you my odds of us playing for and NC this year.

#1 we'er in

#5 look for a new OL coach with others on staff on the hot seat.

Vandenburg better hope he can live up to the hype. He is unproven on the gridiron, 2009 he has been sacked 6 times at limited play. 2010 he even had less playing time on the gridiron. If he was that much better than Stanzi, why didn't he play more or get the starting position? He is not a dual threat and hugging the pocket will not help him in games against a good D. I see him making mistakes. It could be possible that the backup will see playing time as well. I do not buy Vandenburg hype.

It does put more of the offense's success on the shoulders of the QB, and it does increase the chances of injury. Teams with running QBs need a little luck to make it to a championship game, like Oregon got last year with having Darron Thomas healthy.

However, about as often as not over the past 20 years, teams with dual-threat QBs are the ones winning national championships. Charlie Ward, Tommie Frazier, Scott Frost, Tee Martin (that's right: not Peyton Manning - Tee Martin), Vince Young, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, Cam Newton. That's 9 national championships since 1993 won by offenses with dual-threat QBs, which is pretty amazing when you consider the fact that the vast majority of teams use more of a traditional, pocket-passer type QB.

I cannot imagine how uncomfortable it must be to face this Nebraska defense with basically a less-mobile version of Blaine Gabbert.
