**Official B1G Media Days Thread**

Crick and David - could this defensive unit be as good as you've had a chance to coach?

We'll see. We have a good group coming back. Dennard is as good a Corner as there is in the country. We have better depth than we've had yet. Bo's been fortunate enough to coach great defenses, and these guys have that potential but they have to work hard, blah blah blah. It's about character and chemistry and bringing your lunch pail every day and going to work.

What will be different in style of play?

Bo says that's not what he meant. The teams they'll play will be different, but we'll do what we do, and we'll do it well. We're not going to adapt to the conference, we're going to make the conference adapt to us. We're changing some things offensively, new wrinkles, but the defense will be the same. You have to adapt to your opponents, but you have to play your game.

I like it!

Bo: We won't adapt to the conference, we want the conference to adapt to us.

GO BIG RED!

What are the biggest differences between conferences?

Ask me a year from now and I'll have a better idea. Haven't gone through the schedule yet. Played in this conference and grew up in Big Ten country and has a lot of respect for what the Big Ten represents. Bo is honored to be part of the tradition and academic integrity, and he thinks we fit in well.

Tremendous, tremendous, tremendous. Bo's favorite word.

Camp Randall - how will that be, how do you prepare?

Just take care of yourselves. Obviously the schedule makers didn't do us any favors. Go week by week. We always talk about the process, continue to follow the process and get better, we'll be fine. Bo has played in Camp Randall, knows what OSU brings to the table, and it's not going to be easy, but we knew that going in. The team understands the challenges and they're prepared. You want to play the best, that's why you play college football. It's going to be great.

Tressel question - Are you bothered by the things that have happened over the last few years?

Obviously you're bothered. You don't want things to happen. The media tends to exaggerate the difficulties that come up, and they're in the minority. The majority of things that happen are the tremendous academic successes that come up, but that's not what's focused on. The bad things are focused on for weeks, but not the good things. The bad is glorified and not the tremendously positive things. Bo doesn't have his head in the sand and he knows that's how it works, that's why he has to be on guard all the time.

Taylor Martinez - why is he special and what should he improve on?

Taylor has all the tools you're looking for. Very fast, quick. Can make all the throws. He can do everything you ask a QB to do, throw the ball outside. But he has a long way to go with decision making. He had such success early on but then the pressure went up and he was two-three games in his career. Then he got hurt. He's committed, he's talented, and he has an opportunity to be a tremendous player. He'll get better this year and as his career goes on. He is a much more prepared QB right now than he was a year ago. Now he has a year under his belt and he has an opportunity to go to the next level, but he has competition pushing him.

Culture to every conference. What is the Big Ten's culture?

Class. Tremendous tradition. Integrity. That's what the Big Ten has represented for a long time. Look at the academic accomplishments - that serves as a model. That's why it's an honor as an institution to be a part of it. Maybe Bo is biased because he grew up here and played here but he sees other conferences trying to be like the Big Ten.

Totally off-topic here, but I don't want to start a new topic for this little blurb. One of the guys on BuckeyePlanet told me this gem about Bo:

I've got a good friend who grew up friends with Bo Pelinis brother Vince. They swam together. When Bo was 5 or 6 my friend and Vince tied him to a crab apple tree and pelted him with crab apples hit from tennis rackets. Mrs Pelini went nuts. That's what growing up in Youngstown Ohio does for you!!! He's tough. Share this tidbit with the Husker Nation. Great having you in the Big 10!!!
