Beck: Dont get something to eat when the O has the ball

I don't know about anyone else, but when I say, "option," I'm including both the lateral option and the read option. I don't think they're going to be running Tom Osborne's old offense or anything, but I think we'll see both of those a fair amount. My guess is we won't necessarily see the same offense we saw in the spring game (triple option out of the I formation), but we'll see the same concepts and philosophy. In Beck's words, it'll be a different "presentation." I am also putting a fair amount of weight in Cody Green's comments from a few weeks ago, when he said one of the reasons he left was because Nebraska's offense was going to be even more run-heavy this year than last year.

I don't think they'd get anywhere by throwing up a smokescreen, especially with the lateral option. I'd be surprised if the local media even gave in to demands by the athletic department to only show specific types of plays in their practice highlight videos, too.

This does nothing to releave my apprehenshion about the O. It sounds to me like he doesnt know what he is running and therefore niether do the players. Great.....

Don't get something to eat because we will put the ball on the ground or have a 3 n out...Hope not

Well, one good thing (I hope).

With a "hurry up" offense, we BETTER not have any more delay of game penalties!

Hercules, I meant only the lateral option because running the read option would hardly seem newsworthy, given how huge a part of the offense it has been over the past year and maybe two.

I am not suggesting the AD is making any demands either - only that the team could be running it more during the walkthrough drills open to cameras than they are running in closed practices.

It's hard to imagine the offense getting any more run heavy than it was last year...but you may be right.

I'm more concerned about the tempo. Fast paced works fine if you sustain a drive or score. I'm sure hoping that if the offense is struggling to move the ball we slow the pace down to rest the defense...it still wins championships ya know...

Get up to the line quick. Then look to the sideline, look at what adjustment the D made, look to the sideline, look at what adjustment was made snap the ball with 3 seconds left.

Ah yes....overthinking things...I suppose if you can just limit the defensive substitutions you can wear them out before your D wears out.

Was this Beck's attempt at saying... we're going to move down the field so fast you will miss a whole series if you go get food? Or was this him saying they're going to have a big play on every series where we score?... aka helu against mizzou last year. Not sure what this is supposed to mean.

I'll guarantee you that Beck would never tell us to NOT go for a jog or do a few jumping jacks when the O has the ball. I'm sticking to my theory folks.

I think it just means the offense will have a little pizazz.

yeah, pizazz is good, as long as it is not filled with high risk plays and numerous turnovers.

It was his answer when the reporter asked him what he could tell people who wanted a sneak preview of what the offense would look like. Basically Beck is saying, "I'm not giving anyone a sneak preview, you just better make sure you watch once we start playing games."
