One of my pet peeves with announcers

I know this is stupid, but it really bugs me when announcers of college games say a player was "down by contact". Isn't that an NFL only thing? To my knowledge, there is no such thing in college football. Am I wrong?

I guess I've never really noticed them say that before, but you are right. In college you are down when a knee or elbow touches the ground, even if nobody touches you.
