Nebraska hasn't had good games when they wear non-traditional uniforms. Most recently, we busted out the all whites against Colorado in 2007. Fans have a phobia against them and think they're bad luck. And statistically speaking, we have lost more than we have won when we wear different uniforms, at least that's what I remember reading the last time an article was written about uniforms.Good post!Obviously if we wore black uniforms for one game a year it would form a wormhole that would erase all of our past achievements, history and tradition.
Wearing a black jersey once = loss of tradition (To some in this thread)
But who the f#*k lists Scarlett and Cream as a huge tradition at Nebraska? The first ten things on my list when I think of tradition are (in no particular order):
1. Blackshirts
2. Tunnel Walk
3. The Sellouts
4. Walk-Ons
5. The Retired Jerseys
6. The Heisman Trio
7. Bowl Games
8. The Back-to-Backs (70', 71') and (94', 95')
9. The Decade of Dominance
10. Academic All-Americans
I don't see how a black jersey takes any of that away from us. It is what it is, a jersey.
while i agree with your post i dont actually agree with this part, teams with lots of history and tradition have wore them, teams like georgia, tennesse, stanford, and florida state among others, and yes most of the time these jerseys look hideous, and yes some of these teams probably dont have near the tradition and history that nebraska has it has far from ruined the teams image and tradition. if anything it has helped the teams in the recruiting area cuz kids now a days like that kind of stuff. So while i agree with your post, i dont understand while in the sam hell everybody is having a freaking meltdown over the color of the jerseys, and if people are willing to quit being fans over something as little as the color of the nebraskas jerseys for one game of the season then they are not real fansI'm torn, Like a lot of people I think the black jerseys look good. But it really does seem to be something lesser programs do. Seems like changing colors is not something we need to do.
Maybe it's the non-conformist in me, but every time I see another team cave into wearing all black, I lose a little more respect for them.
Yep, & who was the head coach in 07? Thought so.Nebraska hasn't had good games when they wear non-traditional uniforms. Most recently, we busted out the all whites against Colorado in 2007.

A Tom Osborne team wore them and lost. Did you know that? Thought so...Yep, & who was the head coach in 07? Thought so.Nebraska hasn't had good games when they wear non-traditional uniforms. Most recently, we busted out the all whites against Colorado in 2007.
Side note:
I hope we we wear a different uniform for the Wisconsin game, Just so when the games over and im wasted, I can listen to everybody cry about it. People have been crying about small changes to the uniforms for years. Most of you care more about our uniforms then actually winning... Get over it and grow up.. :bang
As far as I know, it's not required. USC and UCLA play each other in their home jerseys because of such contrasting color schemes.Has anyone brought up the idea that we can't wear black jerseys to Wisconsin this year? We are the visiting team. I believe light colored jerseys are required.
Maybe black pants and helmets though. :ahhhhhhhh
I simply counteracted your sarcasm with sarcasm. Class dismissed.Right, conferences collapsing for reasons based on financials and I am the sellout for making a hasty sarcastic joke about them. Maybe I needed to use my sarcasm font. Lesson learned.Sellout.That makes logical sense but what's the money making, hype building fun in that for the first ever B1G game? Gotta find a way to cash in...I think it would be interesting to have one team wear home uniforms and the other wear away uniforms to clear up any confusion regarding color scheme.![]()
