I would prefer Jamal Lord right now....

We didn't go away from what was working. Taylor just had a bit of a meltdown. Worst case those should have been incompletions. They probably should have been safe, effective checkdowns.

But Taylor recovered there at the end, so many sharp Taylor shows up in the second half. I'm hopeful!

I think Beck panicked when we started putting ourselves in 1st and a mile with penalties. Abandoning the running game was the absolute worst thing we could have done when the game was still tight.

Martinez is not the problem. We're playing the #7 team in the nation at one of the toughest venues in college football. Still, I sure like to have those two picks back...

I don't think carnes is the answer...maybe, but. "Dude" you hit the nail on the head.

It sure looked like Beck started to panic with his playcalling after a couple false starts.

 
Martinez and the secondary is the problem. Martinez very rarely throws accurate balls, even when wr's are open the ball hangs up in the air or the ball is slightly behind the wr. He is a HORRIBLE passer but still has gamebreaking ability.

 
Lord was actually pretty okay at some things (especially keeping the ball and never giving it to a running back), but he suffered from the same disease that martinez did-- namely, being asked to do things that everyone knew he was bad at. I remember being at the Texas game-- you know, the one where we were down by 3 and Lord threw an int in the closing seconds of the game? I wanted to be mad at him, but the analogy that I used then and still use now is that if you go to the special education room and ask a student with Down syndrome to do your calculus homework, you can't be legitimately angry when he gets you a bad grade.

Give me Matt Turman, at least when he got the start the OC knew better than trying to chuck the ball around the place.

 
Leave Jamal alone already. The guy was a warrior. He did great things but had not supporting cast. He was like Suh with a Cosgrove secondary. If Lord had the backs and line that Crouch, frost and Frazier had, he'd a won a damn hiesman too. Bottom line is you have to play to your guy's strengths. Tonight Beck went against them for a qtr plus on play. After that it was too late.

I don't agree with the Heisman, but Lord was severely underrated. I'd take that dude now.
