Michigan -- How Does NU win?

1. Take out Fisher & Compton. They are to slow to contain D-Rod. Make David play spy on D-Rod. Play Martin at DE.

2. Run the edges. Lots of option & zone read plays. Mix in a few med pass plays to strech the field.

3. I differ to GoBlueM - not that fimilar with their special teams.

4. We have very similar teams, but we have the better Special Teams. Our Defense is better then theirs when they show up.

Michigan only plays as good as D-Rod. He is the 2nd best duel threat QB in the Nation (RG3 is the best)
Disagree about Compton. Lately Compton has been playing great and he has been flying around.

I will agree he is playing better as of lately & has been better then Fisher, but he is not very quick & we need fast guys to contain D-Rod.

True, but I'm not sure Compton can contain DRob. David might be the only one with the skillset to matchup with him in open space as far as our linebackers are concerned.

We got a Jekyll and Hyde defense going on that must contain Shoelace.
If ever there was a time for NU to utilize a Spy, this is the time. Lavonte David would be excellent in that role, too.
do you want to essentially take David out of the rest of the game though? i don't see david as being someone that would be able to concentrate solely on Robinson - his football instincts put him all over the field. It would kill him playing a role like spy.

I'd like to see Bo go David/Compton - remove Fisher, bring down Stafford as the spy and put Osborne back at safety. Shoelace won't be burning the defense deep through the air - Stafford would be better utlized up front (as in closer to the line of scrimage) with the occasional blitz.

He seems to do well when he's allowed to attack the line of scrimmage but yeah he struggles out in space against more athletic guys

Does anyone else feel like perhaps, just perhaps, Michigan may look ahead to Ohio State next week? I know this game is very big, but a lot of the articles I've read from a Wolverine standpoint talk about how much of a challenge this weekend with us will be, but every article has mentioned that the annual showdown with the buckeyes is looming and this week will be a good "preperation game" for them. I know we aren't a team to be overlooked, but is there any chance Michigan is focused a little bit too much on the Buckeyes?

(I'm pretty bored and need something to talk about)

D Rob has 2,475 of Michigan's 3,927 yards of total offense, or greater than 80% of their offensive production thus far. I don't think dedicating your best player to stopping that is wasting him.

But I don't disagree with bringing Stafford down as the spy, either. Whatever happens, I think having our fastest guys on the field at any given time is the best bet. Leaving wide open spaces for Robinson to roam in are going to get us killed.

I thought about this, too. It's hard to say. They haven't beaten Ohio State in.... forever, so maybe. But I doubt they're going to overlook us. I think we'll get their very best shot.

1. I've never seen Denard have a good game against a good defense. Yes, he is healthy.

3. They are OK. Good punter, mediocre kicker. Kick/punt coverage is so-so.
Thats odd. I just spoke with someone who's very well connected to their program and he said Denard was having issues gripping the ball still and his accuracy past ten yards was very iffy as of yesterday. They told me he will likely start and try to go old school offense (lots of power football) but Gardner will com in early if Denard struggles and then they plan to open back up.

In my unpaid football opinion, you have to get guys like EMart at DE and keep him in between the tackles so you can let Lavonte do what we know he can. If we do that, I really don't see this game being an issue.

Offensively I am not worried. Their defense is good, but better than MSU, tOSU, or PSU? I don't think so.

1) Doubt we spy. That is what MU wants us to have to do.

2) ShoeLace WILL break containment on a play or two. Itll happen. We just have to not let it happen too frequently.

3) We HAVE to be better on 3rd down.

When San Diego State played MIchigan this year, Dennard had close to 200 yards rushing. He barely threw. I expect to see the same. I see Dennard as T-Mart's brother: neither can pass, but both can run. Put 12 men in the box all game long.

Agreed. But we have to be even better on 1st down. 3rd and short is easier to manage than being in 3rd and 10 all day.
