Defensive Scheme too complicated?

Is it possible that the new conference is really affecting the defense more than we anticipated? I mean look at Bo's season's and their OOC games. The defense looked like it needed time to gel early on in the season....maybe it was more that the gameplanning was more complicated since you were facing such a variety of teams that you weren't playing every year. Look at the rematch with VaTech. The defense was lock down good.

We shut down MSU because they played their normal offense with no wrinkles. I just wonder if the new staff hasn't clicked well and have trouble making adjustments on the fly. Maybe Bo is more involved in the offense DURING the games...It's a mystery...or perhaps (hopefully) just an anomaly...

The staff comments could be true. New LB and DB coach. Commens from Carl regarding the physicality of the DB play, the moving of SJB and Cooper to CB, etc............ It is Bo's job to figure it out and get it right. He gets paid millions to win. The staff had spring and fall to gel and get on the same page. If they were not, it was/is Bo's job to get them on tht page. A democracy when t can be and a dictatorship when it has to be.

I don't by the new conference excuse. Bo is rated as one of the greatet defensive minds in the business. All the teams faced us for the first time as well. Some really adjusted and got us out of our rhythm ie Wisky, Michicken. A convinient excuse to getting woodshedded. Regardless to be embarrassed on national tv is a travesty. I dont care how you slice it, we got our a$$ handed to us. Out coached, out played, out physicaled etc....... After 4 yrs, I can and expect some bumps, but not like that. Don't buy the youth excuse either. Yes we lost D starters, but Evans, Green, Smith, Cassidy , Osborne, David and Compton, Stein, Crick all started or played significant time. If it truly made that big of an impact, maybe, just maybe this staff needs to extract their heads from the sand and really start getting reps for he subs and developing depth. If not, we can expect a great season about once every 4 o 5 yrs.

We are not back until we are IN AND COMPETING to the end of EVERY game and we take care of the teams we're supposed to!!

There's just so much to look at it becomes tiresome to talk about it all. I believe there is something to what you're saying, but the defense hasn't looked great at all this year save for the MSU game imho. They got pushed around at times by Fresno St., Washington and even a "spread" team like NW. Our defense should have performed better in those games, and they didn't. Again, though, I do think that the new conference is affecting our defense. Guys just seem to be bigger and stronger, something we need to match.
