Require minimum number of posts before starting new threads

Guys, we've discussed this and while we certainly see the benefit, we feel the negatives outweigh the positives. What happened with the massive influx of new members is exceedingly rare, and most are becoming integrated into the Board. And we're a little leary of the possibility that a minimum post count would deter "good" members without really stopping spammers/flamers/trolls who are determined. We may want to reconsider, but as of now, we're going to leave as is. Thanks for the idea, though, NUance - raised some good points of consideration for us.

Would it be possible for every new thread to be approved by a mod/admin, or would that be a logistics nightmare?

That would be a logistics nightmare :)

More than that, though, it would really limit the discussion on the board. It is easier to do it the other way around: let all threads be created, and then take care of the (relatively small) number of bad ones afterward. Make sure to make use of the 'Report Post' function if you see something amiss!

That makes sense. I've never really had a problem with the bad threads. You guys do a great job of getting rid of them pretty quickly, so no complaints from me!
