Here is the thing. A fan or a rival school (Say Bama) can contact the Auburn recruit, posing as an Auburn fan to try to get the school in trouble.

This is not a real rule. Freedom of Speech kind of carries more weight then the NCAA "rules"
Such as the freedom to speak a verbal promise to a recruit that you will pay them $250,000? chuckleshuffle

No no, you have it all wrong! That was a verbal promise to pay the recruits dad!!! ha

Yeah but, Freedom of Speech carries more weight (yes) the NCAA doesn't care what you say. Their rules are in place for the athlete not the person saying it. So then, the athlete gets punished, not you for saying what you want.

I guess I would like to add that yes it is a stupid rule though, but I guess I would never try to contact a recruit kind of weird really, but maybe I am just getting old IDK:)

Is it a silly rule? Of course it is. I find it hard to believe that a recruit could be swayed by anonymous messages from strangers to attend their favorite school.

Press: So why did you choose Nebraska?

Recruit: Because some guy named corncraze left a message on my Facebook wall begging me to play for Nebraska.

Press:

HAHAHA

We're in his final three - us, Arkansas & Florida st. He'll make his decision after his trip to Arkansas

Why do we always find ourselves competing against Arkansas for a recruit? It never ends well... :dunno

Roll out the red carpet for this kid.

He canceled his trip to FSU.

Top three is still Neb, FSU, Arkansas
