International Man of Mystery
17 Students Arrested in TCU Drug Bust

A drug bust on and around the Texas Christian University campus in Fort Worth Wednesday morning led to the arrest of 17 current students, school officials say.

McGee said those arrested were selling marijuana, cocaine, Molly (ecstasy in powder form), ecstasy in pill form, acid and prescription drugs including Xanax, hydrocodone and others similar to Oxycontin.

Investigators have not yet released the names of those arrested Wednesday, but did say those implicated were all current students and included four members of the TCU football team and at least one member of a fraternity.
Yikes. Welcome to the Big XII, TCU.

Poring over warrants. Brock, talking to an undercover about his urine test: "I failed that b!^@h for sure."

RT @FollowtheFrogs: Devin Johnson, Ty Horn, Tanner Brock and D.J. Yendrey all arrested in TCU drug sweep.

Good heavens. RT @PreSnapRead: Johnson is TCU's starting SS, Horn a backup OT, Brock an AA LB and Yendrey an all-conference DT.

TCU Head Football Coach Gary Patterson:

"There are days people want to be a head football coach, but today is not one of those days. As I heard the news this morning, I was first shocked, then hurt and now I’m mad.

"Under my watch, drugs and drug use by TCU’s student-athletes will not be tolerated by me or any member of my coaching staff. Period. Our program is respected nationally for its strong ethics and for that reason the players arrested today were separated from TCU by the University. I believe strongly that young people’s lives are more important than wins or losses.

"This situation isn’t unique to TCU—it is a global issue that we all have to address. This isn’t just about bad decisions made by a small percentage of my team. It is about a bigger issue across this country and world.

"As a coach, I do the best I can to educate members of my team. We have programs in place that teach student-athletes about what they should and shouldn’t do and how to be successful in life. I talk to them about how to be students and upstanding men that uphold the TCU name and its traditions.

"At the end of the day, though, sometimes young people make poor choices. The Horned Frogs are bigger and stronger than those involved."

More info continues to come out:

The players are linebacker Tanner Brock; defensive lineman D.J. Yendry; offensive tackle Tyler Horn; and cornerback Devin Johnson, according to documents released Wednesday morning.

The documents also say that TCU football coach Gary Patterson sprung a surprise drug test on the football team on Feb. 1, National Signing Day, and that Brock later told an undercover officer that there "would be about 60 people being screwed" as a result of the test.

Brock, the team's leading tackler during the Frogs' 13-0 Rose Bowl season, was injured in 2011.

Sources told the Star-Telegram that Patterson ordered the drug test after a prize recruit told him that he would not attend TCU because of drug use by players.

TCU has not released results of any drug tests, but Johnson told an undercover officer that 82 players failed, the documents say.

Sadly enough, this goes on on campuses all over the country.Including right here.
Not at this level it doesn't.
What do you mean? There are drug sales all over most every campus in the US. If you're saying that our football players/other athletes aren't involved, let's just hope you're right. I wouldn't want to point fingers at TCU in case one of our players got a case of the stupids and was doing this.

I'm not pointing at TCU I realize it happens everywhere. I meant not to the extent of this TCU one.

If they busted 17 in one morning that means it was a highly organized drug selling group all connected. Not just some guys selling dime bags.

Ah...so thats why they beat us, they were all coked up. Congrats TCU on taking the lead in the Fulmer Cup race.

Or it could mean there was a joint effort between campus police and the city police and they arrested all the students that were under investigation.

Generally when that many are arrested in one fell swoop they are connected not every time, but most times. If the police were investigating 17 separate unrelated situations of drug dealing and decided to bust them all the same morning that would be a very unique case.
