Phil Steele preseason All Big Ten

Adbullah should be first team KR.
based on his first 5-6 games, or the last 7-8?
I agree. I don't get the hype with Abdullah on the return game. Most of his big returns were a result of great blocking. He also gets caught from behind. I'd like to see Turner given a couple shots back there assuming he can hold onto the rock.
He had a quick first step early in the year. After he pulled a muscle on that long return he lost a bit though.

Other than Maher and perhaps Kenny Bell, how many players from this team do you think would have been good enough to start for the Huskers in 97, 99, 2000? That gives some perspective on how far we have to go. Hopefully we have some pleasant surprises in the secondary at least...

Bucky, I still don't get why you're so high on White. When Ball got hurt the first go-around against Michigan State your offense really suffered. When White is in, he looks pretty average to me. I understand the love for Ball as any team would be lucky to have him.
i actually don't think Maher would have beat out Larson or Josh Brown...although both were just freshman in 99' though so maybe. And 97' was Kris Brown...so would have been riding pine there. Kenny Bell, I'm not sure would have fit into those teams.

Ben Cotton could have played on them. Stein maybe as well. We weren't exactly freaks up front on the DL.

Otherwise though, it's certainly something to think about. You're right, not many would have.

I'm big on White because of his 2010 campaign: 1052 yards. 6.7 ypc and 14 TDs earning him Big Ten Freshman of the year and all that as a backup.

He was down this year (700 yards and 6TDs) because Ball was such a monster. He's nearly 20 pounds lighter than Ball and isn't built to take the 25+ carries that Montee does, that's not to say he isn't a great back for what he does...and he is. He's not the best back in the conference but he's at least better than Hall.

I guess it just bothers me that UW isn't mentioned higher when people talk about the Nation's best backfields, Ball and White together are scary.

Oh yea, I also like him because of this...

Not trying to pick on ARod but he was probably our worst OL last year (of those that played a lot), didn't play the last 4-5 games, moved positions and probably won't start at OT. Apparently Phil needs to do a little more research.
