CB Ross Douglas [Michigan Commit]

See, for me this comes back to putting a little pressure on when they visit.
They've been doing that, which is why we have more commits now than any other Pelini recruiting year at this point. But the bottom line is, this kid hadn't even visited Michigan if Rivals is correct.

All they did was make a phone call. That's on the kid, not our coaches.

I agree and I was not trying to imply that they are not putting some pressure on. I guess what I meant is I just want it to keep happening.

great decision. MU already has three CBs in their class. Two four-stars and a two-star. I'm thinking one of those three sees his phone calls drop significantly.

why does everyone think he is gone? Sure Michigans on a roll this year, but he has visited us, and our track reocrd with recruits who actually make it here for a visit is really good. I wouldnt count this over just yet, but it definitely hurt our chances. We did beat them for LaCouture mind you.

Just because he sounded excited on twitter doesnt mean anything, remember he visited us secretly while he was still committed, so we really dont know how excited he was about his trip here....atleast i havent seen much on it.
Told ya. thats why we said he was gone lol just messin with ya

not to mention they pulled 2 -4 star CB last year as well. Too bad, he could have played early here, he may not see the field at Michigan.

lol thanks. Figures the kid would go and commit a half hour after i said we still had a shot. Hope one of our Lbs takes his head off.

And no he didnt commit after a phone call, he was an unofficial visitor during the Michigan Notre Dame game last year, so he was already familiar with them. It was down to PSU and Michigan before he committed to PSU....upon furthur review i understand why everyone said he was gone.

It's very strange that we're in a position to really need CBs, he could come in and play right away, but he takes the Michigan offer. What did they tell him, what did they promise him, and what did we not do correctly? Very weird.

It could be as simple as this --- Michigan is trending up. They play hard, have been winning and their future is bright. They ripped NU last year and, if I were their coach, I'd simply state that NU is not trending up and Michigan is --- and that Michigan has a vastly superior recruiting class relative to NU both this year and last --- so that they likely will be pulling even more ahead of NU with time . Seems, actually, quite a simple recruiting sell. Michigan is upwardly mobile and heading places.

I am not at all surprised that NU loses out to Michigan for a recruit.. they (Michigan) likely would get the player in the vast, vast majority of cases --- for reasons quite clear. We can win those recruiting battles if a special relationship between the player and our coaches arises... and there are legitimate and good reasons to come to NU too. But NU is at a huge disadvantage recruiting against Michigan. We might win some.. but will lose most.

Good stuff there sir. And, the board seems to forget that there was a relationship forged already between the recruit and UM. It sounded like in his first go around UM lost out to PSU ... so I don't get why so many seemed bewildered that he would choose UM over us with had already occurred. It sounded like NU was a place to come and compare and then confirm that UM was the place for him. To me, we should take it as a compliment that he choose to see us over the other schools in the B1G.

Don't get me wrong ... I'd love to have him ... but I totally get him choosing UM.
