Some Kool-aid for those that need it.

I watched most of the Iowa - Michigan game last nite, and I'm hoping our new DL coach can make our DL do just as well against them. (but I also hope Michigan plays as badly against us. Michigan looked in that game like Nebraska looked against Michigan. Hopefully Robinson is still bad at away games. *crosses fingers*)
I'm most excited for D-Line improvement under Coach Kaz. I've been tremendously disappointed in our D Line since Suh left. It's more a philosophy than a personnel thing, and Kaczenski has had Iowa's D Line playing very well against just the kind of QBs we have trouble with.

EDIT - and, right on cue, DiNardo comes out with this tweet moments ago:

BTN Bus Tour- #Huskers -Based on 2 practices D appears much improved, deep, talent, more aggressive than last year and motivated to improve

BTN Bus Tour - #Huskers - The way the roster is built reminds me of the 10 Nebraska teams I competed against 1972, 1982 thru 1990.

If it's worth anything Jordan Burroughs said we are going to be awesome and T-Magic will be a heisman candidate for sure! He won an Olympic gold medal so I feel as if I have to believe him.

Okay, we've gotten a little beat up during fall camp. Lost a couple of players. Here's what we need:

Anyone needing kool-aid just needs to watch BTN's Nebraska preview. They were really, really geeked for our defense. Felt it would be better overall than last year's, despite having less star power. They made it sound like the offense will need to click and help the DEF for the first part of the season, but the D should be able to play at a conference-championship level before the season is out.

I expected to hear lots of concern about replacing lost parts, but there was none of that. Barely talked about Crick (although Crick barely played last year with those injuries), and while they mentioned Fonzie and David, they didn't seem to think the dropoff would be so huge. What surprised me most was how much they raved about the secondary. This was my biggest area of concern this year, but they raved about the strength of this unit.

I'm sure they'll rerun it again if you missed it. It was quite the kool-aid session. Also, for those who remarked about Martinez being bigger this year, that is a definite "Yes." He's huge compared to last year.

I'm hoping the extra muscles give him enough confidence to ram ahead for a few yards instead of his weird technique of slowing down for impact.

Most of that was not because he was "scared" of contact or just didn't know how to take a hit.

At the beginning of last year, the coaches and players talked a lot about how he needs to slide and get out of bounds and avoid hits. So, they tried to coach him to avoid hits instead of taking them on.

Hopefully with his added size, health and depth behind him, he can be the runner he was his Freshman year.

I know that. But half the time instead of sliding he slowed down without attempting to slide and took horrible shots standing straight up.
