Heisman Trophy Winner
I'd expect maybe one or two spots, if that. Anymore than that, I'd be surprised...
Using the coaches poll is a good idea in principle, but is actually really flawed. They don't watch the games, they have no time. I bet the only thing they are able to do is quickly glance at records and go straight off that and their own set perception of a team. Not saying the AP is the one to go with though, media bias has to skew it some, but no poll is a good one.
That being said, we deserve to move up at least one spot.
what? where did you hear that? i highly doubt any coach would relegate such a responsibility to an assistant, as do i doubt any coach would rank a team without watching their entire game. i have heard (in my head) that the voting coaches watch the top 30 teams (from the previous week) and then rank them accordingly.Using the coaches poll is a good idea in principle, but is actually really flawed. A bunch of 6th graders could put a top 25 together better then the coaches. I've heard some coaches will ask an assistant to put there top 25 together
You are joking, right? (serious question, since I can't tell for sure). I'll assume you're not. I recall hearing specific examples of assistants filling it out too (for Paterno and Bowden), but even if that's not true, there's no way in hell they watch every game. Taking into account byes and ranked teams playing each other and commercials deleted, that would be at least 30 hours of football to watch. They do need to sleep and go to the bathroom sometime between their game and the poll release time.what? where did you hear that? i highly doubt any coach would relegate such a responsibility to an assistant, as do i doubt any coach would rank a team without watching their entire game. i have heard (in my head) that the voting coaches watch the top 30 teams (from the previous week) and then rank them accordingly.Using the coaches poll is a good idea in principle, but is actually really flawed. um. assistants fill out the sheets pretty frequently.. and by that I mean most if not all of the time for some coaches. Also you're out of your mind if you think any coach in the country watches whole games of anyone. They watch their opponents game film, their own film and get the rest off espn highlights, boxscores and media clips.what? where did you hear that? i highly doubt any coach would relegate such a responsibility to an assistant, as do i doubt any coach would rank a team without watching their entire game. i have heard (in my head) that the voting coaches watch the top 30 teams (from the previous week) and then rank them accordingly.Using the coaches poll is a good idea in principle, but is actually really flawed. i do not know, but i am pretty sure you two are wrong. it was a pretty reliable source. there is some code of honor, quizzes, and even commodations just for the privilege to be a voting coach. explains why lane the pain kiffin did not last long.um. assistants fill out the sheets pretty frequently.. and by that I mean most if not all of the time for some coaches. The fact that he is a giant DOUCHE probably didn't help either. :thumbsYou are joking, right? (serious question, since I can't tell for sure). I'll assume you're not. Um... We can't be wrong. It's literally impossible to do what you suggested. I just explained to you that it would take them at least 30 hours, and that was generous. The votes are due in less time than that and sleeping and eating and bus/plane rides are not included in that. You are joking, right? (serious question, since I can't tell for sure). i think this is where we are disagreeing. the assistant coaches edit the game tape down so it is just from hike to tackle and then format it so there are four games on a screen. probably why so many people think "the assistant coaches fill out the polls". a bit confusing, but they are involved and do help out.Um... I already accounted for editing in my low estimate, so assuming they watch 4 games at a time that's 7.5 hours. IIRC the coaches poll comes out Sunday morning. Do you still honestly believe a head coach is going to have time to watch 7.5 hours of football and then vote that early? I find it incredibly unlikely.i think this is where we are disagreeing. the assistant coaches edit the game tape down so it is just from hike to tackle and then format it so there are four games on a screen. probably why so many people think "the assistant coaches fill out the polls". a bit confusing, but they are involved and do help out.Um... i find it less unlikely that they would impugn the integrity of this poll and not do their due diligence.I already accounted for editing in my low estimate, so assuming they watch 4 games at a time that's 7.5 hours.
